You can get some cheap sleeve adapters on Amazon for maybe $15 a pair. Are they great? Not really, but they do well enough, lock on well to a 1" bar, and let me use my 2" plates on that bar. I can only get about half as many plates on the bar, but it's good enough in a pinch.

Only problem with the 55's is that they are really thick, making them difficult to hold and move around.

are these "taller" than a standard 45 iron plate? My hope for these would be to put them on the bar first to "raise" the bar off the ground and make loading my cast iron weight easier. Currently I have "bumpers" that are the exact same height as my cast iron's that don't actually make loading the other weights any easier.
