I can't believe I waited this long to try making jerky, I've had a dehydrator for many years, but I usually just used it to dry hot peppers from the garden. All I know is It's super easy and so much better than anything you can buy. Seriously, I'm hooked. You have full control of flavor, salt content, and texture. Also, you can turn any lean protein into jerky. You don't need a dedicated dehydrator but it helps for large batches. You can do it in your oven or even better, a pellet grill or electric smoker. It's far healthier, better tasting, and cheaper than Slim Jims.
Tip: Spray the racks with non-stick spray first and you'll have hardly any mess to contend with after. I just put mine in the dishwasher, easy peasy. I learned the hard way with my first batch, it was a royal remove the dogs chicken jerky.
