REMINDER: RTX 5070 TI cannot be EASILY purchased for MUCH less than $1k (all day every day all the time shipped to your door) 32GB of DDR5 is $400+, 1TB NVME drives are $100, 850W PSU averages $100. That's $1600 before motherboard, CPU, case, fans, Windows, etc.,

I'm posting this as a separate deal as the ID.me discount makes it better than the regular sale:

Doorbuster price of $1,999 then use codes BUYMORELENOVO and EXTRAFIVE for $140 off.

Student ID.me took off an additional $95, veterans and others may receive more, YMMV.

Picture shows a tower cooler but the specs say it has a 240MM liquid cooler.

Spending this much for a Laptop CPU that is soldered to the motherboard that cannot be upgraded is a major deal breaker for me personally.

Sure but this isn't some low wattage limited CPU. It's a desktop CPU for all intents and purposes.

Anecdotally, I've built PCs for 20+ years now and have only ONCE upgraded my CPU without replacing the motherboard. I think most Intel buyers would agree that with how often they change the socket it's almost unavoidable that you'll replace both when you upgrade in 5 years.

Glad you posted this. I built a pc in 2019 with a 2080 super that I'm looking to upgrade. I'm told my 10850k is probably OK, but I'd need a new motherboard if I do decide to replace it. So, there's little benefit in a removable cpu if you can only replace it with something in the same generation.

I'm still using an i9 10850k, and as long as you're not playing at 1080p on a high refresh rate monitor, it should be ok. I would upgrade the GPU before the CPU. Also, you should be able to give it an all core OC to 5ghz without much fuss if you have the cooling headroom.

I'm on a 10850k as well with a 4070 and playing all of the flagship games just fine TBH. Upgrade the GPU if you can and you'll still be fine.

Doesn't the 5070ti laptop version have 12GB VRAM, vs 16GB for this desktop version?

Edit: nvm you mentioned CPU not GPU

Hey Guys/Gals,
Apologies if I'm way off base, but unless your post was just trolling, I wish you had not deleted it. Questions help us learn, even stupid ones. yeah, you might get trolled for them, but the rest of us read them and think.

Just my $.02
Peace
