I ported a phone # to Metro last week, activated and had problems with incoming calls, called Metro support and they fixed it, after they fixed it, the agent offered me the tablet for $20, so I was able to get the tablet the day I activated my phone, no need to wait 30 days.

This tablet is underpowered with only 4GB RAM. However, I installed a bunch of emulators on it. They are RetroArch, PPSSPP, Redream, Dolphin, Citra MMJ, Duckstation, AetherSX2, Vita3K, M64Plus FZ, MelonDS and Yuzu.

RetoArch from the Playstore is a very old version. Get it from the RetroArch website.
Yuzu can play some of the lightweight Switch games.
RetroArch can run thousands of arcade roms including CAVE SHMUPS.
Get the Citra MMJ version.

Now this is what I'm talking about, an old school slick deal full of information about how to get the most out of it and making a detailed case for itself. Bravo.

I got it for $20 not long time ago.
When I called to cancel service, they said I can't cancel before 60 days. So basically I had to keep the service running for 2 months. It's a slow tablet, works for light stuff.
You just got an agent who didn't want to process the cancel.
You can always call back, or as noted in the OP just port out the line or if you don't care about the phone number and just want the deal...just don't pay.
Metro is prepaid. There's no contract. There is no penalty for not paying the bill. Metro just stops providing service.

4gb ram is unusable. After all the Samsung bloatware and Android updates, the tablet can barely run one or two apps without dropping to a crawl. They should be giving them out for free.
That's only true if you try to use it out of the box. If you disable the options listed in the OP the tablet is quite usable. The majority of the slowdown comes from trying to use virtual memory. Once you disable that the tablet is plenty usable, even on 4GB of RAM. It's when the system tries to use the slower storage as RAM that you get issues.
Quote from CyanGame5296 :
will they work on another carrier or are they locked?
Answer is in the OP.

What retro emulation systems is this good for? N64 and below?
I've run Dreamcast games on it. A quick search online shows people running GameCube games.

I just ordered a iPhone 13 with a one month plan but I am unable to login to my account to get this deal. Once I enter my phone # it takes me to the PIN page but when I enter my PIN nothing happens.
You need to activate the phone first, as mentioned in the OP.

Anyone got any steps to get this as cheap as possible if I'm not a metro customer?
Answer is in the OP.

That's today. Every day is different. I've bought hundreds of open box over the last 10 years or so. If I told told you the crazy low prices on items like this. You would not believe. These Samsung tablets are cheap already. When they need to clear them out they will go for dirt cheap. But you will never know because they get sold in minutes or hours. I check open box several times a day. I keep but also buy and resale open box.

Do you have to be a customer for more than 30 days in order to get the tablet offer? I thought they had changed this deal to require that, but I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to get that moto G stylus 2025 plus this. I've been holding off until the tablet offer came back.
I ported a phone # to Metro last week, activated and had problems with incoming calls, called Metro support and they fixed it, after they fixed it, the agent offered me the tablet for $20, so I was able to get the tablet the day I activated my phone, no need to wait 30 days.

"How to get this offer online:
Purchase a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G and pay the applicable sales tax on the pre-credit price at time of purchase. Instant rebate of $279.99 will be applied to the full retail price of $279.99.
Activate a new tablet line on a qualifying $30 or higher rate plan to your existing Metro smartphone plan."

Looks like we also have to pay sales tax on the $280 tab price in which case total cost would be notably more than $30, unless the sales tax is not applicable for some reason. Those that took advantage of the promo are welcome to chime in regarding whether sales tax had to be paid.
No, you don't have to pay sales tax on the $280 price. I just ordered one. Tax and shipping are included in the $30 price.

You can't get the tablet as a non Metro customer, tablet line has to be merged with a phone line, You need to buy a phone and plan, after your receive it and activate it, you can then order the tablet.

Thanks OP!

For anyone wondering, tax and shipping are included in the $30 price. (In California, anyway)

Can someone indicate if the tablet is shipped with the SIM card already installed? My brother REFUSES to deal with the simple task of doing it.

I got an iPhone 13 for $55 a few days ago as a new Metro customer, and then I ordered this tablet for $30 today. Do I have to call Metro to cancel both my phone line and this tablet add-on line, or can I just not pay? (Auto-pay is turned OFF)
