Buy it. These things kick butt as a convenient light duty saw. Very impressed with mine. It's the 1613 with the larger battery but same saw. Was about the same price at the time but that was 3 years ago. I've punished it and not a bit of trouble.

These do not work well with anything less than the 5 ah battery. They down regulate the chain speed/torque. Not worth using with anything less. Not saying its a bad deal, just be aware

Just bought this at Lowe's a couple of days ago at the same price. Excluded from military discount, but if you have discounted Lowe's GC, then Lowe's would be the better deal. Plus arrival date was sooner for me through Lowe's.

Yeah the CS1613 was $210 back in 2023. Great saw.

I regret not buying the 18" during the various sales in November. I have an Echo CS-370 gas chainsaw that is not starting. So, it's either pay to get that fixed or just buy this Ego. It's for hurricane recovery and taking out some smaller trees at our lake property. My local Lowes has a bunch of them in the case at this price.

Picked this up, since we have the EGO power system already. We need a small chainsaw to take down some small evergreen trees and branches.

I've got the 14-inch version of this saw and it's been a rock star. I have abused the heck out of it and it still keeps going. I'm always surprised at the size of the material it can handle.

How does it work in the cold? I have the Dewalt 12" and it is basically useless less than 20 degrees

Ran mine last week. Temps about -10F to 15F. No issues in the small firewood cuts I was doing.

I love cordless stuff, but for most people, this is going to be a way better saw:

Yep, you have to deal with a cord... but its always charged and its self sharpening. I deal with 6-8 cords of fallen trees a year, the Oregon is my favorite saw and I have other cordless and gas powered saws.

Do you need to change the chain often?

Oregon is amazing IF you have solid extension cord with solid outlet (nothing used on that circuit. It WILL dim your lights and stuff during use lol).

I own the 16/18 Egos. I love the 16. 2.5AH is very small for this saw. If you have other batteries (pref 5+ AH) it's amazing.

The 18 sucks b/c all-in-one tightening. The 16 - Tightening chain and bar separately (like literally all other gas saws) is the way to go.

The average guy, if you can deal with a cord, get the oregon. Beware, it's more powerful than Ego 16/18.

IMO 18 sucks. Get the 16. And if you need larger, the 20. Having two saws is nice for various reasons.

No, but you need to sharpen it often. So be mindful of that. Recommend having two chains sharpened if you're out...that way you can swap out if needed.

If you don't want to deal with sharpening, look into the corded Oregon.

Edit - I suppose "often" is relative. I do about a couple cords a year. I have 2 chains for 16. But also use 18 (sketchy, b/c when you tighten its hard to get bar AND chain tightened properly). So I'd say I buck a cord a year for a couple years on the 16. Haven't needed to replace it yet. But I don't dig it in the dirt / abuse it. Just sharpen. Cut the top 80% of the log in multiple spots, flip log, cut last 20% above so it's never in the dirt.

I'm sure somebody who does way more serious firewood can chime in.

If you are only cutting smaller trees (16 inch will be painful to cut down a massive tree lol) around the property, light duty like < 25 max diameter logs, a couple times a year....chain should be good for a couple years+?
