Yep, you have to deal with a cord... but its always charged and its self sharpening. I deal with 6-8 cords of fallen trees a year, the Oregon is my favorite saw and I have other cordless and gas powered saws.

Oregon is amazing IF you have solid extension cord with solid outlet (nothing used on that circuit. It WILL dim your lights and stuff during use lol).
I own the 16/18 Egos. I love the 16. 2.5AH is very small for this saw. If you have other batteries (pref 5+ AH) it's amazing.
The 18 sucks b/c all-in-one tightening. The 16 - Tightening chain and bar separately (like literally all other gas saws) is the way to go.
The average guy, if you can deal with a cord, get the oregon. Beware, it's more powerful than Ego 16/18.

If you don't want to deal with sharpening, look into the corded Oregon.
Edit - I suppose "often" is relative. I do about a couple cords a year. I have 2 chains for 16. But also use 18 (sketchy, b/c when you tighten its hard to get bar AND chain tightened properly). So I'd say I buck a cord a year for a couple years on the 16. Haven't needed to replace it yet. But I don't dig it in the dirt / abuse it. Just sharpen. Cut the top 80% of the log in multiple spots, flip log, cut last 20% above so it's never in the dirt.
I'm sure somebody who does way more serious firewood can chime in.
If you are only cutting smaller trees (16 inch will be painful to cut down a massive tree lol) around the property, light duty like < 25 max diameter logs, a couple times a year....chain should be good for a couple years+?
