yes but this comes with the PAID plan, so really not an issue. You can use it for 60 days with the included plan, connected to WIFI to limit use, then port it over to another carrier with a cheap unlimited plan for a back up, kids phone, elderly parents, etc who doesn't need a high end phone.

Can we get it unlocked after the first 60 days, within this prepaid 1 year? or after the 1 year, and pay another 60 days, to get it unlocked after 14 months?
