Though, your specific issue does sound unusual. My Pixel 2 can handle what you're describing and it has the same RAM and a much weaker processor.

Am I going to use the A16? probably not. but it's good emergency phone in a pinch should my kid break theirs.
and it was a $1 and change with tax... hard to beat.
Alternative use case will be a retro game emulator when one of those Gamesir/8bitdo phone controllers go on sale
