There's a pretty good hands-on video from EVO Tech on YT, from a Black Friday sale a couple years back when it was $300. The worst aspect seems to be VA panel color shifting especially on the vertical axis. It also won't do HDR and 144Hz simultaneously, and the built-in apps (especially Plex, which does more work on-device) show lag or drop down in quality because of the anemic SoC and ancient Android 11 OS. For high frame rate gaming -or- HDR watching this will do fine, but you're not getting that great combo.

oh crap, can it do 4k120 and HDR?
I mainly bought this to replace a 4k60 HDR display in a basement bar area corner. I have my PC outputted to all my TVs and the 4k60 vs 4k120 differences can cause some issues

AMD FreeSync gives me stress. Dislike my monitor that has it (I turned it off). Love the Google TV though.... weird the product page doesn't even specify the width, even though it's most important dimension.

Pretty sure that reviewer didn't realize only hdmi 3 & 4 do 4k @ 144hz (also need the right HDMI cable) or the one hdmi 2.1 port this model has. Also need to make sure the ports are set to enhanced if an option and so forth.
It should be able to do that. HOWEVER.
Due to the nits of brightness and lack of local dimming using it for HDR isn't worth it. SDR will be great.
This is a fantastic 4k 144hz (just use 120hz anyways. Not much gain) SDR 50" set for the price.
Great 50" Gaming screen without breaking the bank. Otherwise save $200 more and wait for a sale if you want 1000nit mini led screen with 5 extra inches. If you need good HDR. (There was a 55" Hisense for around that price)

I still didn't watch the video, yeah I'll test it myself. That's half the fun anyway lol, also just seems unlikely. 8 bit with dithering at the very least should work.
I like keeping HDR on, makes the image brighter typically for me. This thing will be for having football games in the corner of my basement bar area or video games/other content duplicated from my OLED 77" but I can still walk around my basement and still be able to play/watch. It will be replacing my 50" onn 4k HDR TV (8 bit w/ dithering)
If I can keep my settings as is without having to adjust it when I want to duplicate content that would be perfect. So 10bit HDR, 4k @ 120hz. I currently have an HDMI duplicator/splitter that does downscale to the lower specced TVs but it then the image looks bad on those TVs. Or I can adjust the settings of my main display but that means downgrading to 60hz, 8 bit HDR, etc.
I also hate when not all HDMI ports are full bandwidth, let me guess the ARC port is tied HDMI 3/4 so in reality you only have 1 HDMI 2.1 free unless you have an expensive receiver.

I don't want tell you how to use your display. If you enjoy it that's all that matters.
Usually bare minimum for eh HDR is 500-600nits with 1000 and up being the best. Heck many would argue 1000 being the minimum for true HDR. Also local dimming helping as well.
This set is about 320nits which is why I'd say SDR would look better but I will leave it up to you to research on your own.
Again great screen for the price. I would not pay extra for the 55" if it's also on sale as paying little more will give better options.
So Football with Moton smoothing? If it has smoothing options. Not all.
Even 60hz sets can offer video smoothing for Sports and such. Again not all do
