These handheld golf GPS are getting as pricey as phones!!! But they are quite cool. I'll stick with a rangefinder for now!!!

This is a launch monitor, as well - completely diff than a rangefinder.

I get that...but tbh, a launch monitor is cool but not something I can justify either...

the putter stats in G82 seems very useful because where most players can improve on

I love my G80 and bought mine used off marketplace for $240. After looking at the G82 I wouldn't even think about upgrading. That glossy screen would drive me nuts on the course. It's also much larger and I usually clip mine on the side of my bag and it's pretty discrete. Yes, the G80 has some ability as a launch monitor, but if you've ever used a dedicated unit that measures spin it leaves a lot to be desired. A surprising feature I use a lot is the tempo trainer.

It's radar based so it's decent at best. You can use it on the range and it doesn't require you to place it 6' behind you like a lot of radar based launch monitors. It arrives at an estimated carry based on ball speed, but does not factor in spin which the more expensive launch monitors do. For example, I was using this on the course a few weeks ago and hit my driver low on the face. It showed 260 estimated carry because it was using ball speed. Low on the face is a recipe for high spin. Walking it off that drive went about 240 from what I remember. The numbers are pretty close when you hit it square. With that being said I bought it for the GPS rangefinder first. I don't like wearing watches when I golf and hate having my phone out. I also generally golf with friends so I can pass it around and everyone can take a look at the hole before teeing off.
