Supports up to 2 x M.2 SSD (2242/2280)
*what I think most of the problem is. People either blame the laptop for their misuse or over compensate the specs not realizing they are just countering the overhead of their own, again, misuse.
Community Reviews
This IdeaPad Pro 5 stands out as a thin 16 inch OLED laptop with an RTX 5050, strong build quality, and a premium feel for the price. The 2.8K 120Hz screen gets repeated praise, and the GPU plus 8GB of VRAM makes it appealing for light gaming and moderate workloads. Storage is more flexible than expected, with two M.2 slots and support for 2242 and 2280 drives. The main drawback is the soldered 16GB LPDDR5X memory, which limits upgrades and may feel tight for heavier multitasking. Battery life is also modest, and a few reports describe freezing or overheating under light gaming.
gamers who want to add storage later because the laptop supports two M.2 SSDs and commenters say the second slot is open and easy to access for an upgrade.
office workers who open multiple PDFs and run common apps (like Word, Firefox tabs, and Zoom) because they reported hitting only around ~90% of 16GB RAM with that kind of workload.
people buying an ultrabook-style laptop for everyday tasks and light gaming because commenters say 16GB is fine for normal office/school use and will be enough for years for typical workloads.
buyers who want a premium 2.8K OLED experience and don't mind that the RAM is soldered because one owner said the build quality feels very rigid and the 2.8K OLED screen is a standout at this price.
Windows users who expect to keep the laptop for many years without upgrading RAM because multiple commenters said the 16GB LPDDR5X is soldered and "kills" future upgradeability.
people who multitask heavily with lots of browser tabs and multiple logged-in accounts because one commenter said their Windows 16GB experience always shows 20GB+ RAM utilization when several accounts are signed in.
buyers who need a laptop that never freezes or blue-screens under normal use because at least one commenter reported the laptop freezing multiple times after ~10 hours of light browsing/non-demanding games and requiring hard shutdowns.
buyers who care about touch input on the OLED display because one commenter declined the deal specifically because the OLED is non-touch.

Yup, 16GB is fine for over 95% of users.
Now, I'm not saying that higher spec's are mo' better. Just these '16Gb oF RaM In 2026 ShOuLd bE OuTlAwEd' kind of comments appear to be coming from people who couldn't even point to a stick of ram if their life depended on it.
P.S. If you want "future-proof" be prepared to pay or omit the GPU. Champagne tastes on a High Life budget

Also those with 32GB RAM and not using it, which is most of them, are actually wasting money on electricity. All RAM must be constantly powered, even the RAM not being utilized.
Yes, the reduced battery life is an even bigger concern.
IMO most (not saying all) hinge issues seem to follow users, not brands. Open you laptop from the center, not opposing corners, and the hinges normally outlast the average useful life of the machine.
More like $3 to $10 and this is Slickdeals, where every dollar counts.

Prompt: "How much extra power would a typical laptop consume over the period of a year with an extra 8 gb of ram on an otherwise identical machine? Assuming a standard household use case."
Response: "Here's a simple estimate of the extra power use from adding 8 GB of RAM over one year. Assume typical home use where the additional RAM draws about 2 watts on average and the laptop is used 8 hours per day. The daily extra energy use would be 2 watts ร 8 hours = 16 watt-hours per day. Over a full year, that becomes 16 Wh ร 365 days = 5,840 watt-hours per year. Converting to kilowatt-hours, 5,840 Wh รท 1000 = 5.84 kWh per year. At an electricity cost of $0.15 per kWh, that would cost 5.84 ร 0.15 = $0.88 per year. In short, adding 8 GB of RAM would use roughly 6 kWh per year, costing about $1 annually under typical household use."
