Yes but no. Even though it has tipping protection, it is still dangerous if its airways are limited by clothes or other fabric items. A kids room is too chaotic to keep this safe. Oil filled radiators are a much better alternative limiting the risk of fire. Though they are more expensive than $7, hopefully your kids growing to adulthood will thank you for not risking their lives with this.

Should be fine for office use under the desk etc. where you can give attention to it all the time.

I have this heater, no it shouldn't be expected to heat a whole room, yes it's a pretty good desk companion on a frigid day. No temp control but I just push it closer or farther away on desk accordingly. For $7 I think it's worth it if you're in the market for a cheap solution.

There is no temperature control. However, I used a smart solution: a Tapo smart plug rated for up to 1500 watts. I set it to automatically shut off after one hour, which adds an extra layer of safety. These Tapo plugs are excellent because they include an automatic shut-off feature.
Despite the lack of temperature control, this ceramic heater was more than sufficient to keep a small office warm throughout the winter in the northern climate and the winters we got the past couple of months

we have a few that were $15 that have a high (500W) and a low (250W). So for half the price, I suppose this is decent.

If Tapo plugs measured temperature, supported scheduling, or offered dimming to reduce wattage from 500W to 250W, they would be a great for this then. A simple auto-off timer provides a minor safety buffer, but it hardly qualifies as a "smart solution."

or are you saying you created an automation rule tying into a smart thermostat somewhere?

I think they have more capability than what I might be using it for. I just like it to have it to auto turn off.I am WFH so my morning routing was go into the office room say 6 am "Alexa turn on the office heater" after 2 hours it auto turns off and that's it. No hassles or anything to remember to turn off. It gets my room very toasty and I like it that way. I can do that throughout the day as well if it gets cold again. I do like how the Tapos are rated for 1500watts so it's plenty to handle the constant 500w pull from this.

Yes I have it integrated into home assistance into my smart ecobee thermostats but it's very complex to explain on here.

No, or at least not in a short amount of time- 500w is 1/3 the power of the "normal" heaters.

I have one like this under my desk to keep my feet warm because I like the normal room temp to be cool-ish but also like warm legs. For $7 it's a good price though

It can but does not have a thermostat.

One like this on low setting, 700w, works well and will not overheat a room. I use it in my office when working during winter.
