I wish companies would quit making this junk. Aluminum ends will fuse to your spigot. Buy brass only.

Use a brass quick-disconnect. Problem solved.

Completely agree, I bought this same hose and it broke my spigot trying to take it off after just a month. Company acted like it was my fault.

I dont know how people fuse their fitting like that, I have this brand of hose and its been on my garden faucet for years (sitting attached for over a year at a time) and I can still unscrew it easy enough.

Assuming you already know about the issue with aluminum ends. Most consumers don't until it's too late and that's the problem. Why do that to people in the first place? So you can make a few more cents per hose? I will buy a hose with brass ends to avoid this risk. It's not like they cost any more. What if you get hit by a bus and your spouse or kid puts the hose on and it fuses on because they didn't know or they forgot. If you don't buy the hose in the first place then you have nothing to worry about. I like a good deal as much as the next person but not with these consequences. Don't buy crappy products and they won't manufacture them.

A month? Either there is something wrong with your water or you didn't have a good seal (or your spigot was crap if you broke it just trying to get a month-old fitting off).

$1/foot for noodley hose that often develops mold/mildew, kinks rather easily, tends to get pinched and tears or rips and WITH aluminum ends!
In for several dozen!!! 🤫🤦 😵

Yes, the consequences of not knowing about the hose fusing to the spigot due to galvanic corrosion can be ugly. But there are some simple workarounds to avoid the problem. Just wrap some plumber's tape around the brass threads of the brass spigot. Or use a plastic connector to act as a middle man between the aluminum of the hose and brass fitting. Problem solved.

And your rage is misdirected because your proposal to make all hose fittings of brass is not a solution at all. Some people have aluminum spigots, so their feelings towards hoses with brass fittings would be just as valid as your feelings towards hoses with aluminum fittings. One is not inherently better or worse than the other.

So my beef isn't with companies selling hoses with aluminum connections - it's with ALL companies selling hoses. They should attach a warning label to the end of every hose that clearly states what the hose connection is made of, and the potential consequences of fusion to the threads of an incompatible spigot. Some may already do that in the small print on the advice of lawyers, but the warning really needs to be prominently displayed.

All that said, I have a 100 foot version of this hose and it's the best cheap hose I have ever owned for not kinking. But the color sucks, an icky gray/black mold thrives on it, and $15 for a 15 foot hose is hardly a bargain.

Water is needed to trigger the fusion. So if you have a good tight seal between your aluminum hose fitting and your brass spigot, and you live in a relatively dry location, then you might be OK. But if you live in (say) New Orleans, and/or there is water leaking out of your connection then fusion much more likely.

If you attached an aluminum hose to a brass spigot and left them on your dining room table for a year I don't think anything would happen.

Once again your workarounds assume you already know about the issue beforehand. Secondly, there is no such thing as an aluminum spigot that I could find. If there is show me. I found some that are brass with a coating that makes them look silver but still brass underneath. Additionally, I never remember seeing hoses with aluminum ends until the last 10-15 years or so. And again the only conceivable reason in my mind manufacturers would use aluminum instead of brass is because it is cheaper. So they are putting their profits above looking out for their customers. The one thing we do agree on is they should put a warning on aluminum ended hoses. However, if they did that then people would probably not buy them because garden hoses are not that expensive in the first place and in the second place hoses with brass ends do not cost more so there is no benefit to the customer to purchase an aluminum one. To top it off, I always considered Flexzilla a premium brand when it came to hoses so for them to use aluminum ends is somewhat surprising.
