Just checked this out at my store. They had 2 out of the box. FYI the platform on these is rather small. I thought it might be a good solution to use with my lawn mower or snowblower but no dice.

I've been looking for one of these for working on small engines. I do plan on making the platform bigger to accommodate mowers. I like the fact that it's not heavy and the height matches my Maverick tailgate perfectly. Thanks OP.

Picked up in store. Online was listed at clearance price but at store was displayed at full price. Rang up for clearance price.
Perfect timing, using it for dropping a fuel tank.

Can these be use to hold a transmission?
Yes of course. Unless it's a transmission from a dump truck it's not going to be more than 250lbs. However the range of lift on this cart is already tight for most transmissions; it's not going to clear the underbody unless you can also lift the car up more. Which I doubt since you asked the question.

Looks like you cannot fold the handle thing down, so it will take a lot of space (for me) and hence not suitable, sadly.

Fun fact. when I was in Japan I noticed pickup truck beds to be much lower to the ground and that was so it would be easier to load and unload.

Weight limit is only 500lb.
Highly recommend the motorized XL Heavy Duty version.
