Does anyone know if I can use this to charge or maintain a generator battery? I have a Champion Generator using 12V 18Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery.
It should be able to. The issue is that the battery does 2 things in a generator. 1) Opens the gas valve on the propane inlet. 2) Starts the motor. #2 takes about 100A for a short duration (few sec), which a SLA battery can provide, but this Ryobi cannot. So it will open the gas valve and you will need to pull start. If you leave it connected, it will charge the battery, but that takes a while. Usually you find out the battery is dead when you need it, and dont want to wait several hours to charge the battery up.

Of note, the SLA you quote is 18Ah. The Ryobi batteries are 2, 4, 6Ah. So if it the SLA battery is dead, plan on using several batteries to charge it up.

With a regular Ryobi battery, how many times could I expect to charge a phone or tablet while camping? I always have these batteries with me since I have their fans/misters and other tools. Do portable battery packs make more sense for what I need?

this was a good reminder i needed one of these but i opted for the 1000w for 119. too much functionality difference. it looks like in some areas you can pick up the 800w for 99
