Ugh, Google Fi is charging sales tax on the full purchase price, not the after discount price.

Comes to like 17.5% in taxes when it should be 1/2 that.

The 512gb price is $1499... Therefore $850 is correct! I'm not sure if the 256gb is eligible

New FI customers can have 512gb for $999

Samsung pricing is insane. Apple is final cheaper by a mile. Samung sales are nonstarters

I show the "A new Fi member activated the device" message in the Fi app under the Fi Savings section (no email though). Phone won't be delivered until tomorrow though. Under my devices section in the app, I show the S23U I activated the new Fi plan on as well as the S26U. The S26U shows "On the Way".

I was planning on waiting until the 30 day mark for the ref to activate the S26U, but wondering if I should do it after the 21 day mark before the 15 day return window closes.
I'd do it within the return window. There's no harm in trying and returning if it does not work. But before that you should contact support,.don't say anything about the new account,.just mention that how come the phone is saying activated even if you didn't get it on hand. I can imagine seeing that error but it's weird and seems to be a backend system problem if it's showing activated even before you received that phone. There's a risk of them asking about new user etc but then again if you do that close to the end of return period if might be a bit late.

I took your advice and called Fi support just now. The rep verified the phone is not activated yet and said some users had some confusion on how it is worded in the promo tracking. She explained that the yellow exclamation by that step doesn't mean it has actually been activated. It means that step has not been completed yet and it is only a warning. She said that once I actually activate the phone, the yellow exclamation will turn into a blue checkbox like the previous steps. I also mentioned that I didn't plan on activating the phone for a week or 2 after it is delivered, but would before the 30 day mark. She said that is not a problem.

I am pretty sure the yellow mark means something went wrong along the way but I do believe that it will go away if you activate it as an *exsisting* user so I suggest to activate it after 21/22 days if it's within your return window.

I just got an email today (ordered 02/25) saying that I activated on a new FI member and that I have to activate it under current FI member to qualify. I don't get it, sounds like a scam now, last time they scammed me with the half off deal saying 1 (me) of the 4 members was a current member ( I left over a year ago) and that discount didn't qualify, I got a similiar email about it before the bill came out and reached out to Google Fi and they told me not to worry about it and that I will get it, ended up paying for a year without discount.
I contacted them tonight about it and they said the same thing, sound like I'm going to get played again, so I'm thinking about just cancelling or returning it. not worth the risk because the will charge you back $650 if you don' t qualify according to them.
Just my experience as well as couple other friends I reffered and we all got screwed. Wish you all the best of luck and not get into this drama.
1. Did you use a referral code?
2. Did you order right away after establishing a new account, or waited 24hrs, or after 1st bill generated?

Got the exact same email hours after the phone was picked up by UPS. The package is still on its way though. Let's see how it goes.
Edit: Fi support mentioned someone has activated the device. Shall wait for the package to arrive in next two days.

Cost analysis:

Let's take the 512 GB Plus as an example:

Estimating about 7% tax and my own experience from low usage on Flex plan
  • $535 including tax
  • Flex plan 120 days estimating tax and minimal usage $105
  • $60 friend code credit
$580

So overall cost will be $570 - $600 depending on your tax and whether or not you sock drawer it or use it a little

What do you think this phone is worth after 120 days?

Yeah, keep us posted.
Activated yesterday. Turned on Fi data for good measure (I don't mind paying the $10/gb for the first month), and now the counter has gone down by one day.

If I remember correctly from your previous posts, you've been a GoogleFi user for a while now and ordered Fold before also. If that's the case, you shouldn't be worry about activating the S26U. You've been on Fi for a while.

We are still not too sure about people that just signed up last week and order S26U. I'm one of those people and I'm not waiting for 20 days to activate the phone.I am activate the phone as soon as I receive it tomorrow.

I think they are doing the S26 promo on a new user line but far too many different scenarios being tried for this deal.

What do you think this phone is worth after 120 days?
$700-$750 - Samsung phones don't hold their value well.

Even the Ultra series, after 120 day if one was to sell on marketplace, it might only fetch for $850-$1,100 depending on your market.

If you keep the phone for the full year and upgrade again next year on same deal, the S26 Plus might be worth $600-$700 still.

I have Flip 7 512gb from July deal . I think I can only get like $700-$800 max if I sell on FB Marketplace. Thats what they go for on Swappa in Mint , mine is Good , not meant but they dont have any listed. Some people have it listed higher but I doubt it would sell that easily

Granted its about 7 or 8 months old. Buyback companies only offering ~$400

I might wait a month or two and see if the new Motorola Razr is worth checking out, if Fi has a deal on it, but I think I am pretty stuck with Samsung after trying the Pixel 10 Pro and hating it

I have been a Google Fi user for a while now but my main Fi account was not eligible for the $650 off. I had to create a new Fi account under a new email to get the $650 off. I believe we are on the same boat.

If you are an exsisting FI user you can absolutely upgrade to ultras every year without paying a dime as I and some here have been doing from 4 or more years. If you are not an exsisting customer this adds 120 days of service. If you live in a state which does not charge tax on the full price and sales tax is low then I think you can still make a dollar less upgrade as ultras hold their value much better than anything else from Samsung.
