Ugh, Google Fi is charging sales tax on the full purchase price, not the after discount price.

Comes to like 17.5% in taxes when it should be 1/2 that.

The 512gb price is $1499... Therefore $850 is correct! I'm not sure if the 256gb is eligible

New FI customers can have 512gb for $999

Samsung pricing is insane. Apple is final cheaper by a mile. Samung sales are nonstarters

The past two years, I sold my old ultras on Swappa. In Apr 2024, I sold my S23U (512GB) for $750. In Mar 2025, I sold my S24U (256 GB) for $738. It's best to sell your last year's ultra as soon as you get your new ultra to get the best price.

Someone on reddit posted that the status changed to "A new Fi member activated the device" error as soon as he activated the phone.

Anyone here signed up for the service last week and activated the phone yet? Please report your phone $650 rebate status if you do.

Thanks

Trying to get all the details on how people ordered, activated... etc. Trying to get the ducks in a row to see what worked and what might have made it fail.

It was suggested to wait until referral cleared before activating or at least 21 days after starting FI before activating the new phone.

Are you on some other promo? I guess not as you are still seeing the offer. I'd wait till 21 days. Let us know how it goes.
I am not on any other promo and no referrals, just a new account about 20+ days old on flexible plan. I checked again on 23rd day of account opening and it did showed the $650 discount so went ahead and placed the order!

May be this https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleFi/s/uVgeMnXI6W. As mentioned before best to activate it after ref counter is over but that might be after the return window so do it after 22 days from account opening which should still be within return window.

Phone was delivered today and my online order shows I have 15 days to return (3/25). I hit the 21 day customer mark on 3/21 (signed up 2/27), so I'll activate it then. It will sit in the box unused until that date. I can live with losing the $60 credit if that happens for activating it before I hit the 30 day mark.

I decided to activate my phone after ref count down to 0 + 1 day just to be safe. I'll miss out on 14 days return window but I bought it with AMEX so I have return protection if something goes wrong.

You can always activate it on 23rd day and check. If you get the new user error, reset the phone and reactivate it again after ref counter is over but what you are planning to do is safer as I don't know if the promo hits that error it gets reset with existing user activation or not. It's just that you won't be able to return it with Fi but Amex might help you there.

Refunds are limited to $300 per item, up to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year based on the date of purchase, per Card account.
Fi will charge extra 650 if the promo is not honored and tge return window is closed. Amex will give you $300. Wont you still lose 350? I am just trying to ubderstand the Math. Thanks

Can we use it without activating it, for things like taking pics, until the 21-day ref counter runs out?

My son's a new Fi customer. he signed up using my $60 code. His S26U arrives tomorrow.

Besides the $60 credit, anyone running into any issues with being a new Fi customer and the $650 discount for the S26U?

I see this reddit post. Anyone else running into the same issue and was able to get resolved via Google Fi support?

Yes, you can use the phone as long as you don't download FI app.
