Ugh, Google Fi is charging sales tax on the full purchase price, not the after discount price.

Comes to like 17.5% in taxes when it should be 1/2 that.

The 512gb price is $1499... Therefore $850 is correct! I'm not sure if the 256gb is eligible

New FI customers can have 512gb for $999

Samsung pricing is insane. Apple is final cheaper by a mile. Samung sales are nonstarters

I signed up for service on 2/25.
Ordered phone on 2/27.
Phone was delivered on 3/10. My Google Fi app has just been sitting at waiting for activation. Today the app says device was activated. I know this is not true as I have not even opened the package. It is on my table. The countdown has not started yet. I was waiting until Thursday as that would be over 21 days. Is this an issue that it shows as activated when I have not opened the package. Maybe when I activate on Thursday the countdown timer will start?

where it says activated it does have a green checkmark.
That's weird but 21 days I mentioned was from the account opening so it's curiously the exact time when you *become* an existing user. I would suggest activate and if it does not start the countdown timer escalate it to promo team.

I agree activate it and see if the counter works..weekend coming return period over and you will be under water. If the device activated with yellow circle exclamation mark it is same issue ever one having. Immediately contact to promotion Dept and start working on it.

Hope this helps.

I went ahead and activated the phone the other day and the counter started counting down. Showed 119 late yesterday.
Ive seen some of you guys stated you would reset your phone. Question on those, will Google Fi not connect to continue the counter?

Yep and if you connect to different Google Fi during that counter will have problems.

another case of yellow exclamation mark "new google fi member activated " error resolved by promo team.
Escalated through chat on 13th, just got email today (17) that they've gone ahead and fixed the issue from their side. Now I can see tracker counting down.
I was impatient and ordered the phone soon after creating my google fi account, did not wait for the bill to generate before ordering.

ELI5....Is this worth it if I need the service in June? How does it work if I want to use the phone now? I know the better deal has passed and the mint deal doesn't seem like a deal unless you need the service pretty much immediately. I don't NEED a phone quite yet so I can wait for a better deal but the fomo is real lol.

No the counter is in auto pilot and Fi does not continuously check anything unless you trigger something by changing the service, putting the Fi SIM in another phone(for example by running the Fi app In another phone) etc so make sure not to do any of those.

Many here are doing this deal for the phone, they don't need/care for the service. See the community notes for the steps. The Fi phones are factory unlocked and can be used with any carrier from day 1. You do need to activate the line 30 days from shipping and keep the line active for 120 days. The current deal (without free storage upgrade) will continue for most of the year so you can do it anytime you want.

Same thing happened to me today. Phone is still in the box but tracking shows Activated. Count down is showing to keep service for 105 more days. Very strange. I was gonna activate the phone this weekend (21+ days from service sign up date)

Still have not open the package that was delivered. Status updated today. Still says activated and now says stay active for 102 days. So counting down and have not even accessed the phone to activate it. I think I will wait until Thursday just to make sure I get to my 21 days. I have until 3/25 to return.

Sounds like waiting is a better option then. I may not like the service but if I have to keep it open and paid for for 4 months (not paused) then I may as well at least be using it. I have never used google fi. I don't know what community notes are. I did read all the comments. Nobody seemed to be doing exactly what I was thinking so I asked.

If you open this thread in desktop browser you will see a community notes link under which I have listed a set of steps to do this as a new Fi customer.

If the buyer activates the phone on another GFi account/line, will that invalidate your promo? Just curious. $1200 is a great price.
I don't know the answer to this haha. But the chance of that happening is very slim. Because the dude that bought it from me has AT&T. So remains to be seen what happens.

Which case are you using for S26U?

I got two samsung cases

Samsung - Galaxy S26 Ultra Silicone Magnet Case

and

Samsung - Galaxy S26 Ultra Rugged Magnet Case

Really good build quality, but the rugged case is extremely slippery...hardly any grip.

Silicone is not as slippery, but doesn't seem like it has much shock absorption capability if the phone drops.

I am going to return both of them and try the this one Samsung - Galaxy S26 Ultra Clear Magnet Case - Transparent.

Looking forward to your feedback. thanks
