lol I think they meant 2.5gHz and 5gHz wifi band. Not 5G as in cellular lol. FYI 5gHz is less crowded band, but shorter range, 2.5gHz is more crowded but longer range. So essentially use 5gHz if you can work with the shorter range. It also depends if your wifi router supports 5gHz.

I got a similar set at a similar price point and found that the software is definitely the weak point with these bargain cams. Not compatible with the excellent 3rd party programs out there for cam management and monitoring, but still somewhat usable. Mine are a decent 2K resolution and serve the purpose for keeping an eye on my property.

Pro Tip: These resellers on Amazon live and die by their reviews and star ratings because they affect how much they have to pay Amazon to be listed on their site. Therefore, you can "weaponize" your review to get additional discounts if you are careful, write a clear and complete review and are willing to compromise. I ended up getting mine completely for free in the end. 😁

Does this camera have a guest access feature (i.e., the ability to create a guest account with restricted viewing rights for someone outside the main user account)?

Did a fair bit of research recently before going with Tapo but these were high on my list for value (all solar and 360 with a home base). All of the reviews and videos I saw were really pushing my towards them for all of the reasons one would assume as far as tracking range, video quality, rich alerts, etc. Comparably, my Tapo setup was about 2.5x the cost of this setup for a similar layout + 2 indoor cameras. Like the previous commenter states, the Soliom app may be lacking compared to competitors, but still absolutely useable.
Thanks for the information

From what I understand, No, they do not require constant internet. With just local Wi-Fi the cameras will still work and record to the Hub and you can still access the cameras and Hub while on the same network.

You obviously lose the ability to to receive push notifications and remote connection while away, and firmware updates.

I was looking at the amazon reviews, and it seems in cold weather or if SUN position doesn't get enough SUN, you could have problems with battery, and if the battery goes to low, it resets the camera positions.
Maybe in warmer climate with lots of sun it would be ok. I do not own this, but maybe the guys can talk about how much sun shines on camera (solar power) for how many hours a day.
So, each solar panel and cam is about 35 dollars. Features are lacking, ... I have no personal use of these, so I'll rely on others to comment.

Any chance of integration/support with Home Assistant? Really, really don't want to install one more app on my phone.

Should we be concerned about CCP invading our privacy with these?

Let's not pretend like all the tech companies + US government already spies on everything we do. I'd worry about what they're doing instead of what China is doing, bc China doesn't care about regular people. They're interested in State secrets, not what your pets are chewing on.

It's dual band wifi, 2.4g and 5g WIFI. Your ass is probably confusing it for mobile 5g🐐
