i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
Spectrum's FAQ for what qualifies for a trade-in device, does not list the phone being unlocked as a requirement. I traded in a straight talk locked phone that I bought from Walmart, and had no issues last year.
Yeah, I'm with you on this one. I plan to take the trade-in phone to a physical store on 11 March and if they take it - great. If not, no harm no foul.
Today I called Spectrum 2 times and chat with them 1 time, they confirmed with me consistently that the trade-in phone must be unlocked. They confirmed me that "unlocked" means it can be used with any carrier. So they are serious and no joke this time. One agent told me that if trade-in phone is not unlocked, then no credit for $705 promotional discount. They also offered me to cancel the order.
they lied... in the trade in drop down list ONLINE on their website, you have to select which carrier the phone is.
In the Spectrum Mobile Trade-in Program FAQs section, https://www.spectrum.net/support/...ogram-faqs
under the 1st question, "Do I have to remove my information from my old device?" It showed:
"Make sure that your phone has been unlocked from its previous carrier."
I just cancelled my order successfully through chat. Too risky. I am done.
Trade in value of 512gb Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is 1,091. Total cost of 2026 Samsung 512gb S26 Ultra phone before tax is 1,299.00.
So if I pay 1,299+Tax it works like this: (?)
1,299 -1,091 trade in 208.00 paid for new phone
Plus I get 700.00 from Spectrum? so I make 400+ profit for a new phone?
I use Mint Mobile if that matters.

$391 for S25 ultra + $700 promotion = $1091 for trade-in, you do get back $1091 after trade-in processed, but first you need to payoff S26 ultra $1299+taxes.
Edit: the phone I'm wanting to trade in is the 64GB one.
Has anyone bumped into this issue? When I add the Moto G 5G 2025, it accepts the trade in as $5 trade in value plus the $700. When I log in to complete the process, it gives me me a message that the device is not eligible for trade in. It gives me the message.
"Your current trade-in device is not eligible for the Anytime Upgrade plan, which means you can't access its benefit with this device. However, you do have another eligible device. Would you like to select that device to trade-in for improved price and benefit?"

Got it! Thanks.
So the 700 is added to trade in. I think recently just for fun, I wanted to see what Samsung would give me trade in for my phone so I went to Samsung.com and if I were to upgrade to the 2026. I would have had to pay about 500 + taxes after trade-in and that included a 30.00 extra off.
This deal would save me about 300.00. I'll have to give it some thought if it's worth it. I love my 2025 Ultra so will have to research what's different with the 2026.
When they say go to the store to pick it up, are we talking about picking it up at Spectrum. I've never done one of these deals so not familiar with it.

$391 trade-in value for a 512gb S25 ultra is criminal lol. You can get a lot more selling it on craigslist, fb marketplace or even ebay.

I can confirm that I cannot check out with Moto G tradein. May luck be with you in-store! I guess they learned some lessons from last year.
I ran into the same issue. Bummer. I wonder if they are taking any Motos this year. So far, as I've read in the comments, the only confirmed accepted trades have been the Galaxy S25s.

AKA meaning, which carrier it's locked to.
Both reps are idiots.
Is it monthly credit or straight discount?

Eligibility list shows that phone being unlocked is not necessary.
