i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
Yes but it's 1 discount per account now. I tried adding a new line the $700 discount disappears at checkout. I think after all these years they finally figured out what everyone was doing and turned it off.
no way it's 1 per account.
I think you mean 1 discount per LINE.
one account can have several LINES.
I just did 2 new lines and both show $700 off.
This was towards the person asking if you can trade in the s26 for s26 plus or ultra on the same line, which online it won't give me the $700 at checkout. Is it worth getting $430 off the $1100 s26 plus after already paying $211 for the s26? I wouldn't say it is.
ok, my brain was fried at the time. you are correct. not worth it lol.
Time taken by assurant to process ? When was it delivered ?
Phone was delivered to Assurant on Friday, 3/6, approval email came on Tuesday, 3/10, and Spectrum is already showing the credit on my account, so it probably appears sometime on Wednesday, 3/11. It's the fastest I've ever seen for any part of the process.
You just set it up normally as you would setting up a new phone.
Unless there is some screen that you can't get pass due to the phone not being activated on the cellular network? Sometimes the SIM card is not seated all the way in.
Yeah - the straight talk phones don't let you setup anything unless activated on the cellular network. You can hit 'skip' when it asks about esim activation, but then it says "there was a problem during activation, please call the carrier"
FYI I usually do the Spectrum deal for new Samsung phones. However, I did the Best Buy preorder this year. I was able to trade in my backup spectrum s24u last week and get my credit applied immediately. I didn't want to wait for my phone credit to be released back to my card. On top of that, it was unlocked, unbranded, and doubled the storage. For a small few, the best buy preorder was better. I would still do the Spectrum one if I was trading in a cheap phone and able to wait the 60 day unlock period.

Did you do this trade-in all online or in-store and was tax on after-discount price?

i've never encountered that.
Was that BEFORE or AFTER the step to connect to Wifi? Did cellular ever show signal bar then immediately went away?
Did you purchase the phone in store or online? Or online order with in-store pickup? It could be something due to they did not scan the IMEI barcode for online orders.
So I'm guessing you had bought this phone on Straight Talk and had been using it on a plan before?Because if you buy a new one from Walmart, it's already factory reset, but you can't advance through the setup without activating plan on sim. If I take the sim card out, then I can connect to wifi, but right after it still asks for esim activation and won't let you get past that. Any one else?
Nope, you are wrong dude. I bought Straight Talk Moto G 5G 2025 from Walmart for $32 and I have tested 3 times by doing factory reset and successfully get into the home page without any issue or without enabling cellular service at all. I did that with or without sim card successfully. I got 2 of these devices. I have sent 1 to Assurant without sim card in it. I understood what you were trying to say. I believe that issue is happening on Moto G Play 2023 or 2024 device, not the Moto G 5g 2025. On the Moto G 5G 2025, the setup process with or without SIM card didn't enforce me to enable the cellular service to complete the setup process at all.

That's exactly what i encountered. The rep said the phone had to be active on a line to trade it in. But when he put it on the line the trade in system wouldn't accept it but was requiring the phone that had been on the line and not the added device.
I dont really understand either.
Rep either doesn't know what he's talking about or straight up lying to you.
Try to clean the history or cache in the browser or app and try again. So it only showed the device credit like $5 at the end and no $700?
This happened to me in the last go around with the Z 7 Fold.
Not sure if it was Spectrum's system or what, but, while my email confirmation clearly showed the regular trade-in and promotional credit, when I went to the Spectrum trade in portal, it only showed the $5.
I had to call Spectrum a few times and speak to people who kept escalating the issue and finally they just issued a manual credit for $1000 on my account, noting that they made the error.
This is the only time in like 20 trade-ins that I had an issue.

Wow! You got $1000 manual credit. You must have a very sweet voice or a very patient person. 😀😀

The store rep told me the process changed this year — no more instant trade‑in discount in‑store. You now have to pay full price upfront, and the credit appears later on your account.
When I asked if those credits could be withdraw, he said they can only be used for Spectrum services.
Has anyone actually managed to withdraw the credits this year, or did the new rules really cancel the instant discount — or was I just unlucky with the rep?

Then setup a new line and upgrade the S26 to a S26+/U.

do you want to try it out and report back? I'd put the success rate at above 95%.
