i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.

New customers who purchase Internet and 2 phones/lines. The discount goes away in the cart if you are an existing customer. Debating whether to cancel my Spectrum service and take advantage of the deal, but its a lot of hassle since I actually use them for internet/TV/etc.
My understanding is that Spectrum has a certain period of time before you can be considered a new customer. I think maybe it is one billing cycle (would need to call to confirm). So you cannot just cancel and sign back up the next day. Perhaps if you have a different person in the household to open the new account under such that their system does not identify as the same account holder.

Better solution is when you call to cancel they will transfer you to the retention department so perhaps they can arrange something so that you can get new customer promotions without cancelling the account completely since they are aware people do stuff like this and would rather just keep you on. The retentions team is basically like another sales team since their goal is to keep you on as a customer.

If you have internet/TV service with them and are paying full price (not under any sort of promotion) then probably worth calling in anyway and speaking to retention because they can often offer new customer promotions to you even if you are existing customer. Even beyond the mobile topic of this thread you could potentially save a decent amount.

Asking as I couldnt find a direct answer - I am a Spectrum Internet Customer and I have a Galaxy Note 9 to trade-in. I see a value of $705 (700 promotion + 5 trade-in value) online for a S26 base. Can i complete this deal in a store? Since I am not a new internet customer will I get the entire 700 off in-store? Will they accept my old trade-in device at the store or should I ship it? Any other pointers to complete this deal? Thank you!
You should get the same deal in store as online. Some people like doing in-store better because they give you the tradein discount right there and so you are only paying the net difference. Some people have difficulties instore due to incompetent employees and prefer just doing it online but the tradeoff is you have to mail device in (which is free, they provide you with a USPS label or UPS QR code to drop off) but still takes time for them to receive and evaluate the device. Then after you get the credit on your Spectrum account you have to chat with them to refund it to your card.

The other consideration is that from a payment standpoint if you do online you can pay full price with a rewards credit card and then switch the card on your account to a non-rewards card (like debit) for refund. So this can potentially give you additional financial benefit to doing it online versus instore where they just charge you the net amount.

I sold several s25 base last year at $400 top, mostly around $350, didn't want hold onto them so I traded in 4 S25 to spectrum for flip phone at $358 + 100 promo. Been reselling Spectrum samsung phones for a little while now, since the promotion and tax changed I won't doing it anymore. will get 1 S26 base for personal use once my Pixel 10 Pro ($300+tax) unlock next month.
Agree, as stands with the higher price of the device ($899 up from $799) and inability to trade in S26 for another S26 mostly seems the only use is if somebody wants to upgrade their device. Trading in S25 to S26 this year is roughly breakeven so if same happens next year with S27s then definitely nerfed most of the financial benefit of doing any of this from a reselling perspective.

Anyone know if you can trade in to get S26, then cancel the account few days later, and the. Have a family member sign up as new customer with 2 lines and be able to get the $400 customer credit? Also is it possible to sign up for the new customer deal online (internet only) and then go to a store to port in 2 lines + trade?
There are terms to the new customer and adding in 2 lines promo. We're not sure if you are allowed to finance the phone to qualify for the extra $400 off. If you get a chance to go in store, please report back

The price of the phone is $899 instore or online, the $699 price is just if you qualify for and use this promotion:

"$200 Off or FREE with trade-in
New Residential Internet customers who add 2 Unlimited or Unlimited Plus Mobile lines. No trade-in required.
Terms and Conditions
Offer Valid 02/25/2026 - 04/21/2026
RESIDENTIAL INTERNET PREMIER or Higher + 2 MOBILE LINES OFFER: FREE Samsung Galaxy S26 with Trade-in when you buy Internet Premier or higher and two mobile lines, port in a mobile line and sign up for a device payment plan. All trade in terms apply."

This is the deal people are referring to when talking about $400 off, they are talking about getting $200 off two phones on two lines (or they are referring to $400 off the S26+/S26 Ultra which is the other option).

The Spectrum mobile website is just deceptive because they show the price markdown for everybody even those who it does not apply for and does not correct until you start going through checkout.

The device payment plan needs to be clarified. Does that mean you can't pay the cost upfront or else you won't get the $500 off?

The Spectrum website shows the $200/$400 discount for the Pay in Full options also, so I cannot say for sure but I would assume since it shows the discount for both payment plan and Pay in Full you can do either if you qualify.

People who qualify should be able to go to the Spectrum Mobile website and test things out themself adding the necessary lines and items to cart. I do not qualify for the offer so cannot do it because for me the discount goes away after adding to cart.

Other Motorola MOTO G 5G 2025 64GB
That is what I selected. Just bought a 2025 from Walmart today and it let me go through the setup no issues. I pulled the Sim card out and still using it on wifi. I went to spectrum today but they said they haven't received stock yet and it should come in by tomorrow. I'll try again and see if they take it. If not it's a really nice phone for $30 perfect for a backup wifi device.
Managed to get the s26 base. What a trip. in-store reps are indeed mentally challenged.

* moto g play 2026 (straight talk) is locked down. Phone is bricked out of the box without activating straight talk plan (was not the case 2025 and earlier).

* back to walmart, got the tracfone moto g 5g ($50) 2024 (moto g 5g is listed for trade in). In-store rep refused the trade, because 2024 isn't called out by year. WTF

* back to walmart, got the tracfone moto g 5g 2025 ($50). in-store reps suspicious now wondering how i own so many moto phones. They are forced to honor the trade this time.

Because of the feedback here I almost want to go grab another 2025 since it would make a great future trade in or wifi companion.

I could not upgrade in-store due to some fraud alert. I moved to Spectrum internet 5 months back and took the free line promotion last month. This would have been my first ever device purchase with them. Anyone else faced this issue?
You have been marked. Happens to me every year after 3-5 in store trades so have to do online only.

I went to another local store and got my s25 traded to S26 as an upgrade, basically paying $6+taxes on the msrp, total $85. The employee who helped me was a pro, nice and very efficient, and so the entire process was very smooth, done in about 25 minutes.

The new customer extra credit (ex: $400) seems to be a bit of a hearsay even among the employees. Upon my asking, he even went to confirm with his manager, and came back with "the $400 new customer credit is spread over 36 months, and not instant", but what made it bogus was the fact that he was telling the same thing for the $700 promo, but I ended up getting the full $700 as instant credit, I selected "Pay in Full" and basically ended up paying only $85. It seems like most store employees have not yet gone through the new customer promo and they seem pretty unsure of how things will turn out for such customers. Even the terms for the $700 trade in credit does not mention instant credit and it is worded like it's spread for as monthly credits.

I also tested online for a random address that did not have spectrum service; I added $50 internet, one free phone line and then it prompted to make it 2 lines to gain the new customer promo (without specifying the promo amount or the details). Total came out to be $90 monthly ($50 internet + $10 included Advanced Wifi + $30 for 2 lines) + taxes, and option to ship or pickup equipment in store were provided. It seems there's no way to test the $400 new customer promo without actually signing up for internet as new customer.

On the Spectrum Mobile website it shows the $200/$400 applied to both the Pay in Full and financing prices (it shows it as the default and takes it away when I log in). Obviously cannot say for certain since I do not qualify myself but makes no sense that Spectrum Mobile website would specifically show the discount for both options if it did not apply to both. Most of the time the terms talking about it being spread out are not because it is limited to financing only but so that financing people do not think they get the credit all at once too.
