i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.

Only problem is even the trade in credit will be split into 36 months if we do financing which is pain point and a bigggggg trap.
Exactly. Confirmed by two different stores. The $700 credit in instant (you can choose to pay in full), but the new customer $400 credit requires 36 months devices payment plan. So, I'll stick to my current plan, trade multiple times however/whatever phones make sense on hte same line as an upgrade, and maybe add a second line if required, but i will not be thinking of cancelling and rejoining laugh out loud

$700 payment plan credit is easy to get refunded. I bought in store on the payment plan. I went home and logged into Spectrum, and paid off the device balance. Then there was a $685 credit balance for mobile, and I chatted asking for a refund. Refund took 3 days to my credit card.

Good. But somebody has to confirm they are able to get $400 off with device payment and the later pay off the remaining at promo price and not full price.

I saw $705 credit under the Statement category in my account, so I called in to ask for that money credit back to my credit card. The agent created a ticket for that and she said it will take 6 days for that. They have to review my refund. What's the hell? I did this thing a few times last year and I believe they didn't create a ticket at all.

So, I put in a pre order on Feb 28. I had to cancel that one as I had to cancel the original payment method. Put in a new pre-order on March 6, with the new payment method. That one went through, and have the device in my hand already. My trade-in arrived on Monday, so just waiting for the evaluation and credits. But I check spectrum account today, and I guess my payment for the s26 ultra didn't actually go through on my March 6th re-order and now wants me to pay for the s26 ultra (full cost) on my next bill lol. Checked my credit card and yeah, for some reason the payment for the s26 ultra didnt go through but the phone still shipped to me and everything. Strange situation lol.

I had a similar situation once because Spectrum when they do the charge does a full charge and then reverse it before the actual charge rather than like any other company that just processes the charge on the original authorization attempt. My CC company flagged the second attempt as a fraud and declined it. Spectrum still processed the order and shipped it but then there was a balance on my Spectrum account for the full amount of the phone.

I went ahead and paid it off because I did not want any issues with the order or trade-in credit. But definitely strange that their order system does it this way and would ship the device after a declined payment, or why they even double charge the card versus just processing the payment on the first attempt.

I would assume that if I did not pay it off then the trade-in credit would just have been applied to the outstanding balance.

If I get the trade-in credits posted on my statement before I have to pay my bill, that would work out pretty well lol. Just pay the difference at that point.

I wanted my trade-in credit to go back on a different card anyway. Also did not feel like gambling with the trade-in credit having the outstanding balance for the original order.

One time they told me that I had to wait 2-3 billing cycles even though the credit had posted to my account so I just chatted with a different agent and they were able to give the refund without issues. There are definitely some agents who may not know what they are doing with these credits. I think key is to make sure you are actually dealing with a billing person rather than something like the sales or tech support team.

You cannot trade in Spectrum S26 at Spectrum and get promo credit.

you paid probably $200 plus tax for the S26 and the trade in device.
So doesn't look like a great trade in value for a new device. Am I missing anything?

The $700 bonus off an S26 series phone is what everyone is talking about

If they paid $200+tax net for the S26 and then got $430 trade-in value for the S26 towards the iPhone 17 then they benefitted around $230 versus just trading in the original device directly fort the iPhone 17. Not the same as getting $700 bonus on the iPhone 17 but an indirect way of getting a bit of value from the S26 promotion towards the iPhone 17 if that is the device they were wanting for personal use.
