i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.

you paid probably $200 plus tax for the S26 and the trade in device.
So doesn't look like a great trade in value for a new device. Am I missing anything?
It's just shows you how hard it is to get a discount on an iPhone. I had the trade in 3 iPhone 16e from Metro to get a $500 "discount" on my wife's iPhone.

I saw $705 credit under the Statement category in my account, so I called in to ask for that money credit back to my credit card. The agent created a ticket for that and she said it will take 6 days for that. They have to review my refund. What's the hell? I did this thing a few times last year and I believe they didn't create a ticket at all.
Yes the agent created a ticket for my refund request, and my credit card received the refund 3 days later.

I wanted my trade-in credit to go back on a different card anyway. Also did not feel like gambling with the trade-in credit having the outstanding balance for the original order.
I wanted my trade in credit to go back to my autopay card, but Spectrum refunded to the card used to pay the device balance.

Was that for a device you originally had on an installment plan?

Every time that I have requested a refund for a trade-in credit they have always done it to the card that I had on file. One time they even asked me if I wanted it to the card on file and I asked if they could do a different one and they said yes and had me give the card number.

I guess the other way would be if they give option to send a check as some people said they have done for them.

Edit: Sounds like you had a bit of a different experience in general if they had to file a ticket/review for your refund.

If they paid $200+tax net for the S26 and then got $430 trade-in value for the S26 towards the iPhone 17 then they benefitted around $230 versus just trading in the original device directly fort the iPhone 17. Not the same as getting $700 bonus on the iPhone 17 but an indirect way of getting a bit of value from the S26 promotion towards the iPhone 17 if that is the device they were wanting for personal use.
yes, this is what I was going for. I benefitted around 330 because right now spectrum is giving $100 extra on tradeins towards the iphone 17 line

I am a spectrum internet customer and traded a moto g play 2023 (QVC $20 last year) at the store and received instant $705 off and got the s26 ultra. Paid $647.78 and left. 15 minute process. The mirror test took up most of the time.

The S26 Ultra is $1299.99 minus $705 is $594.99. So that means you paid $52.79 tax, which is consistent with NY sales tax just on the net total (i.e. post-discount amount). Somebody was asking about tax in NY whether it was on the pre-discount or post-discount amount and this answers it.

Thank you for the answer. Last year the tax was only on the net total. Since then several people have reported the tax in NY Is on the full msrp. So far no one on this particular deal. Thanks
I do not know how to tag people but responding to you so you can see previous message about NY tax.

Hello, I recently pre-ordered the S26+ and traded in my S25+. I wanted to get two more phones and checked if Spectrum would apply the $400 promotional discount in addition to the $700 trade-in credit for existing Internet and mobile customers.
Since I was unable to get answer over the phone, I visited a store yesterday. The rep mentioned that this could be done by creating a new Internet account for my service address (without completing installation), then adding two new mobile lines under that account and setting up a financing plan.
I asked whether I could immediately pay off the device balance in full and then close the Internet account. She wasn't certain but believed that might not be allowed.
Do you think this approach would work? Specifically, my plan would be to open a new Internet account, add two mobile lines, receive the $400 promotional discount along with the $700 trade-in credit, then pay off the device balance in full, cancel the Internet account once my credits are applied, and finally transfer the two new lines back to my original account. Thoughts, please?

I cannot say whether it will work or not but I can say that I was once told that there is a period of time (I believe one billing cycle) before Spectrum would consider you a new customer. For instance, a customer could not cancel their service and then immediately sign back up and be considered a new customer the same day.

That would be my main concern about the claim that opening a new internet would allow you to bypass the new customer limitation. But if they have done it successfully before then I guess they would know better.

I am also a bit confused with what is meant by open a new internet account and not completing installation. Would your original internet account be closed? If not would you then have two active internet services you are being billed for? If they do close down your original internet account then that could interfere with your first line that is likely linked to that account.

Received 705 credit, but looks like they were not able to charge my card and now I owe them 700.

Their online order system for devices is terrible for payment processing. They do an initiation authorization/refund of the full amount and then do a completely different second charge for the same amount (rather than doing it all on the original authorization). This triggers a lot of fraud alerts and cause the actual charge to get declined but they still ship the order and then tack on the balance to your mobile account.

The only way that I even knew this happened was because I received fraud alert from my CC. Spectrum did not even notify me and I only saw after logging into my account.

So, I put in a pre order on Feb 28. I had to cancel that one as I had to cancel the original payment method. Put in a new pre-order on March 6, with the new payment method. That one went through, and have the device in my hand already. My trade-in arrived on Monday, so just waiting for the evaluation and credits. But I check spectrum account today, and I guess my payment for the s26 ultra didn't actually go through on my March 6th re-order and now wants me to pay for the s26 ultra (full cost) on my next bill lol. Checked my credit card and yeah, for some reason the payment for the s26 ultra didnt go through but the phone still shipped to me and everything. Strange situation lol.
Same issue, they did not process payment but sent the phone.

Just got two S26 Ultras in store without any issue. One is on my free promo mobile line and the other one is on a new by the gig line I just opened. If I cancel the by the gig line unlock the other phone after 60 days and then move the dormant phone over to my free line I should then be able to unlock that phone as well after another 60 days, right? So 120 days to get both phones unlocked (one after another) - I don't want to mess around trying to switch phones back and forth on the same line for 60 days...

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure about the new Internet connection thing either. Maybe others in the community can chime in.
