It's not better than all other store bought pasta, but it's definitely better than a lot. Bronze cut pasta creates a rougher texture that holds onto sauce better than super smooth pasta.

"Homemade" do you think this is made in someone's kitchen?

Normally can find this on sale for 2.50/lb at my local grocery store, this is a decent deal for bronze die cut with a variety of shapes.

This beats $1 barilla/ronzoni/prince/store brand because the die cut makes the pasta surface rougher, which allows for better sauce adhesion.

I can get DeCecco for a similar price at Restaurant Depot, but only if I buy a 20lb case (of 5lb x4 bags), and you don't get as much variety (penne, linguini/spaghetti, mezze rigatoni if you're lucky).

for one, it's made in Italy therefore it's not full of glysophate. I've never had RAO's, I usually buy De Cecco, but this appears to have the right color for good pasta. more white than yellow indicating it wasnt dried too fast at too high heat.
Yeah I'm guessing people that don't really cook just assume they're all the same. There's a large difference in quality in my opinion, and "good" pasta is barely more expensive than the crap pasta. Better texture (slow dried), sauce holds better (bronze cut).

I only buy the pasta that is made in Italy, non-enriched durum wheat, bronze cut. Harris teeter has one that always goes on B2G3 sales which drop it down to the price of the store brand crap. I stock the pantry on those sales.

We don't eat pasta often but I feel a little bit better using a good one. Attached is the brand that Harris Teeter sells, I think Kroger also carries it.

I used to buy the De Cecco but it's now using enriched flour so I switched to the attached one.

Please tell me how this is so much better than other store bought pasta?
RAO's pasta is pretty decent. It's bronze cut, the ingredients are basically "semolina flour and water," and they do a proper drying process that lets the pasta get the proper texture when cooked + gives those little "ridges" that holds on to sauce.

Other store brands on this level would be Rummo, DeCecco, Delallo, and Barilla just came out with a new "Al Bronzo" line that's pretty decent too. The rule is "The whiter the pasta, the better."

This is a decent "from a jar" sauce. For the price it's a good deal. You can always sprinkle in a little extra garlic and Italian seasoning for stronger flavor.

Publix recently had it as a "Bogo." Wasn't impressed nor disappointed. It's probably on par with the name brand competition but not worth a premium.

It will be interesting to see if even this introductory quality level is maintained with them being a Campbell's soup product now. Like others, IMO the sauce has gotten worse since, switching to Del Grosso as our premium base.
Try Victoria jar sauce its all natural. No additives! Great for homemade pizza too!

Of course. There are like three nonnas they have chained to a kitchen island in Italy making this stuff.

Somebody is trying really hard to match even occasionally the everyday price at Aldi. And yes, the Priano brand from Aldi does have just semolina in its composition, and is also bronze cut, just like these Rao's pasta.

Yup, been buying Desecco since it is supposed to be the best store bought. Just bought the Al Bronzo" at Publix for buy one get one free. Better pasta has texture, so I was told. Like you said to hold the sauce.

Which you can see visually. But in literal blind taste tests you can't tell.

Goes well with the Raos deal a while back from Amazon.
