Did I read that someone was doing a series on this, the people who did Stranger Things?

I read it for the first time when I was about 14, when the Talisman first released...and I would describe myself as having advanced reading interests as well at that age. And yes, I would say if your 13 year old can handle (or talk about) death and loss and the protagonist Jack Sawyer (also about that age) being on his own on an arduous and dangerous journey to save his sick mom...then yes, totally appropriate. 🙂

Agreed. This book was awesome....I've been meaning to read the Black House and still haven't gotten around to reading it! If you haven't read the Institute, that book is pretty good for a recent book by him!

I read a lot, and rarely re-read anything. Read this one three times.

Thanks - I ended up getting it. He's finishing up 11/22/63 by King now... this is next on his list.

I read it around that age and it had real impact on me. I loved it and still think about it fondly.

I'm excited for him...reading it with fresh eyes and learning the story for the first time! It's my 3rd favorite of King's books (with #1 being 'Salems Lot and #2 being The Stand)

Have you read the Dark Tower series yet? Highly recommended if you can afford the time commitment.
