Thank you, OP. Wasn't going to consider looking at cellular plan deals with an expensive plan. I am glad I finished reading the all 12-pages (at the time this morning).

My use case: 1. Transferring my teenager's Apple watch number (1-year service expiring) from a no-name provider to get her first phone. So, I am paying $120 for 2-month worth of service for this iPhone 16e. 2. After getting the 2nd month of credit, I'll either the service and trade the 16e in on Apple for a no-carrier 17e at a value $310. That's a net discount of $190. Thank you to the poster who confirmed that Apple would accept an iPhone with SIM lock for trade-in

Note: I got $400 Apple balance from a Black Friday deal in 2024. Need to use the $. And, I got on last year's Total Wireless unlimited deal at $15/line/month. My goal is to switch transfer the number to Total Wireless after the end of the first 2 months with the 17e.

I'm very tempted to get another 16e the same way for resale BUT I'm hesitant. Offer Up, FB Market Plan, etc will be flooded with tons of 16e. How much would I get back? $300-$350 as a Cricket-locked iPhone? I wonder if this 16e could this be used on AT&T's network? The value is going to drop. Don't wanna hold on for it for too long. Do you think there're takers? Thoughts?

Can I buy the phone, port in the number but continuously using my existing device instead of using the new phone? My phone is 17 pro, don't mind port the number for 2 month but have no intention to switch phone.
Yes, you can move the plan to another compatible device. The simplest way to do it is to open a chat with the virtual assistant and choose:
  1. "Existing customer"
  2. Then "New eSIM device"
  3. They will send you an OTP
  4. Then ask for the new device IMEI
  5. And the email where they should send the QR code
In my experience, you won't even need to scan the QR code - just choose to set up a new AT&T eSIM on your new phone, and it will download automatically.

4 lines should be cheaper. Since the plan price also decreases to something like 100/mo for all 4. So assuming 4x100 for the 4 months and 4x120 for first 2 months, 880 total -> 220 per phone. One can also go for the 3-mo $45 plan, then it becomes 4x120 + 4x45 +100 (the 6th month) = 760 -> 190 per phone.
"4x100 for the 4 months and 4x120 for first 2 months, 880 total -> 220 per phone"
That's incorrect math. If you buy one phone first, then as an existing customer add three more lines, two months for four phones with four port-ins will cost you $260 (not $880). But IDK if they give you a discounted price for all 4 lines.

That error means they believe you're an existing customer (likely based on your address)

Yes, I used cricket Mobile until a few months ago. Unfortunately, I've forgotten my username and password for the account. Do you know how to use this promotion?

Gemini says "it is not possible to add a new line to a suspended or expired account without first paying the full outstanding balance for the existing lines"

From what I can see, their cheapest current plan is $30/mo. So for months 3-6, at 30+tax mo, you get an unlocked iPhone 16e for $120+120+tax total. It will probably still be worth more than that new in six months, so I call this slick provided that we are allowed to downgrade our plan and the phone actually unlocks in six months. This is also on net cheaper than the old Total Wireless deals iirc, though of course the wait time was much shorter.

ED: there is apparently a 3-month unlimited plan for $45 (it was listed under yearly plans so I didn't check there at first). If that's the case it'll be $75 for the final four months instead of $120, presuming you switch to the $30 plan for the last month.

In other words:
$120—phone+first two months
$45—unlimited plan for next three months (total of five)
$30—10gb plan for final month (total of six)
For a total of $195+tax. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Unlocking the phone isn't what I want to do. Just get the 1st one for $120, then get the 2nd line for $30 or so. Trade in both immediately to Apple for $310 each on apple.com, then you essentially get your iPhone 17e unlocked and pay nothing.
