T-Mobile 30 day eSIM Trial on T-Life App you can port it out for free. I got 4 phones to use on trials from Straight Talk/Total Wireless deals unlocked in last 3 years.

After get Free Trial Number create a T-Mobile ID: Use the T-Mobile website to link your trial number to a email/profile.

Locate Account Info: Your account number in the "Account Summary" section of the online portal. Generate a Port PIN: Under Settings in Profile

For Chrome, open incognito page, chose I need a new number, chose $55 plan, enter your zip, hit get new number, hoover your mouse to the top right area near the X then message for coupon will pop up, works for me every time. These $25 off coupon works for only new customer, won't work for existing customer option. I can give you a code if you can't generate one.

Choose build your own plan and the 3.88 plan should show. Not sure what it's called. I'm not logged into the app. It logged me out once I initiated the port.

I was able to activate first device w/new number then ordered Free 16e w/port number for 1 month plan multi line $30 discount. So i got 2 phones for $165. After $25 new customer code with new number.

Whats the long term deal with these cricket ported in numbers? Im assuming most will not stay and continue paying after the require 2 months (1 month without port in). So does the cricket account just go inactive and numbers get released to someone else? Or how does that whole thing work?

Per AI "With Cricket Wireless, your number is usually held for about 60 days after you stop paying"
With that said it may make be a good idea to get your cricket pin and account number before getting rid of the phone in case a another deal comes where you need a number to port out although i don't know how long the PIN will be valid. To address this issue after activating all my phones i transferred their esim to an iphone16 in storage that way if I need an auth code to validate my cricket account i just need to activate that specific line on demand and without the phone i purchased from them.
