Or if this is how it works -- in case a Metro or Cricket deal comes along (has to be soon) where it requires the acct to be active still. If I get rid of the esim entirely, I assume I can't even get into my Metro acct.
Weird setup where neither phone now has service.
Edit: and setting the 16E back to factory made no difference. Hmm... tried the QR code again on the SE, and it says it can't activate it (duh, since it's already activated), but thought I'd try it anyway.
Basically SE has the ESIM, it's activated, all good for data/phone. Just the little problem of it not working.
Cricket chat fixed it however by just giving me a new esim code to use. They actually seemed pretty competent, was right to the point and got it fixed pretty quickly. Surprised how smoothly it went. I'm used to dealing with metro reps where it takes an hour for them to 'get started' and then things only get worse after that.
Anyway, my cricket brain is now fixed. Next, up, my metro brains...
When I was at the store last time, I told them mine was a brand new, few days old phone from Cricket (in new box + order email), but bunch of them (including maybe a manager) asked me instead to return or send to Cricket for warranty. They even told me if their tech looks into it, they might have to open the phone and I'll have to pay some fees for that inspection. I even told them I was buying a 17pro if the phone traded successfully.
Weird. I'm not an Apple guy, so I do not know how their warranty works. I assumed, any new iphone bought from any carrier or anywhere, could be brought to Apple store for FREE warranty works (without requiring paid plans or fees, at least for inspection).
Tried a Stylus 24 (unlocked) and same. Tried a Stylus 25 (unlocked) and it wants to use a physical sim instead (don't recall even getting one w/ my iphone 13). Running out of unlocked phones to move it to.
Guess I just lose that one, unless anyone has ideas? Expires in like 8 days anyway, but I sort of wanted to keep it just to log into my Metro acct. So weird how they require the number to even log in.. I wonder if I can make my tablet number somehow my login number.
Edit: And tried again today and now it transferred fine to my SE. Right away, no issues at all. Beats me why.

The trade in value seems to differ based on the carrier selected. There's no Cricket, so I selected ATT and seems to get higher value, not sure if the store will really honor that:
Trade-in Estimate
$225.90
$251.00 Store Credit
Value is subject to in-store visual and functional assessment at the time of trade-in. Offer expires at end of business day today.

Mine wanted $146ish (plus possibly tax) for one. He was worse than online.
