You will regret wasting time with this tool and still end up buying the correct one to repair what this causes.

The dude lifts up on the drill causing the uneven issue. So obvious you can see the gap when he does it.

I've used this. It's not bad. I already own a planer, so I'd use that personally but you'd definitely need to sand after either tool.

This tool is truly terrible, I bought it to "fix" a door that was scrapping and it's just a drill bit in that thing that spins but does a horrible job and just gouges and makes the cut impossible to be consistent depth. I just used a jigsaw instead and was able to get a precise but at the depth I needed for the clearance desired. Don't waste your money on this garbage.

You beat me to it! This tool is designed to fix a symptom and not the problem.
Depends on the problem. Idiot owners of this house previously added tile on top of tile for the master bath and left the door the same height, so it sticks prior to being 90 degrees open. Bending the hinges can't fix that problem because there's no clearance at the top.

This is a very specific item. Can I buy someone's used item once they're doing using it?

I need a quick lesson . Say that my door is rubbing at the top. Which hinge do I bend and how?

100% skill issue.

This sucks because I suck at it.

I'd take my door off and use a circular saw, baring that, a wood plane.

I've used it on a door that was rubbing. While it says you don't need to take the door off, it works much better for leverage if you take the door off at which point, if you have a planer, you might as well use that instead unless you have coordination issues with keeping the planer straight.

So, you no longer utilize your own drill-bit? It would seem like a mill would do much better at cutting than a bit.

You just need to find a sandpaper bathmat to use until you've got the clearance you need. With the added benefit of smooth feet.

☝️ This. First thing to check is the hinges - they're probably a bit bent or not attached properly.

And instead of trying to plane the door, it's often recommended to plane the trim around the door instead of the door itself. Most of us have hollow doors, and it's possible to cut too far and reach the hollow core.

And if it's only a minor rubbing issue, consider just rubbing some wax on it. Bought a small block of white wax but a generic white tea light would work just fine. Rub it on the part of the door that sticks and it will open and shut smoother and without noise.

This is for the side though, they were asking about the top. There has to be enough gap on the bottom hinge-side in order to solve the issue by bending back the hinges. If there isn't, it's because the door frame is no longer square or plumb.

Interesting tool, but my plane is probably sufficient

I have a different problem. Someone tried to kick in my door and it warped it slightly and now I have to bump the door with my hip in order to get the door lock to latch. Any suggestions if there are any way to fix this without replacing the whole door?
