On Black Friday I got the M5 24gb/1TB for $1749. Blows my mind that 4 months later it's already even cheaper. Yeah the M5 Pro released but I didn't know the price would drop THAT quick.

Gotta time it right so that you're not buying last year's model and then regretting a few months later. Apple usually always announces their new laptops around certain dates so you just have to be aware of that.

If you are doing things that require color accuracy yes. Also the 120Hz is a big deal for smoothness. But if you haven't ever used a ProMotion display you won't miss it.

(just a note...the M5 released a week ago..so I'm guessing you meant you bought the M4...not the M5. And there is a difference between the M5 chip and the M5 Pro. This is a just a lowly m5 chip in the Macbook Pro "case".

Yeah, I'm talking about the MacBook Pro M5. The M5 Pro chip is overkill for my needs so I didn't wait. Just surprised you can get it for $1600 now just a few months later

The M5 was released in the 14" MacBook Pro in October 2025. The M5 Pro and M5 Max were announced last week and released this week.
