If you have hardwood floors, hold out for one with the Duo-Clean rollers. The front one is fuzzy and does a really good job on hardwood. I've had a Rocket with Duo-Clean for something like 10 years and haven't had any trouble with it. If you have a Rocket, I highly recommend the flexible extension hose HVFH320. I use that with a brushed pointy nozzle to clean baseboards and bathroom fan grills. EDIT: Looks like they no longer off the Rocket with the DuoClean head.

These rocket vacs are extremely powerful for the size.

I bought this in August for $10 more. It works really well on both carpet and tile. I quit using my upright vacuum and only use this now.

I've got this vacuum, and I would call it good enough. I'm waiting for it to die to upgrade to a Sebo or Miele.

Great vacuum! I recommend the XL dust cup one if you can find, this one fills up fast

had one since 2018. best vacuum and I'm picky with everything. I use once a week for carpets, as I prefer it to the robot which leaves some trails from the wheels so I quit using it on carpet. robot does the hard floors since it mops em too. for areas where robot can't fit I use the vacuum

Bagged vacuums are the best but are a pain to find the bags & then changing them plus the clean-up. I guess best to do that outside to avoid the mess in the house.

I haven't used Sharks, but here is my data point on Dyson:

I have one of their XLs from several years ago. It really sucks (compliment).

However... The brushhead motor died within a month after warranty expiration. I reached out to them about buying a replacement part and they wanted nearly as much as I paid for the whole unit - So instead I bought salvage motor units off the bay (1 for around $25, the other around $27). I disassembled the brushhead and replaced the motor; a medium to advanced-level DIY task because they purposefully designed this thing to be hard to service. I bought two as an extra replacement or in case I messed up the repair.

I have one from 2017 that looks exactly like this. It still works fine but I didn't know the canister did not detach from the motor and power cable. It is super annoying to have to try to empty with the motor weight and cable all over the place. Especially because I like to empty outside or in the garage and it just is a hassle. I went to a battery stick vacuum that completely let's the canister be removed to then go empty and it is nice. The shark motor was pretty good though.

Consumer reports gave the shark rocket hv301 a 73 and a cr recommended - smart buy. Their top model was a shark power detect.
Brand reliably 81/100
Wonder satisfaction 60/100
Carpet 3/5
Baredloor 5/5
Edged 4/5
Noise 4/5
Pethair 5/5
Clean emissions 4/5
9lb
30ft cord

While this is not the same model I would think this would behave same or better
