These 3rd party battery relablers can have good batteries, byt they can also change manufacturer and sell poor quality under the same label. That said I still prefer the cheapo ones, energizer & duracell are ripoffs, even if they last twice as long, which they don't

I've bought a few sizes of licb batteries, including 2032 3v, and they have been terrible compared to name brand batteries.

Avoid getting the cells with a bitter coating. In some devices, it will cause corrosion and damage the device. This is especially true in things exposed to moisture or sweat.

Yeah, every button/coin style battery have bought online has been counterfeit and die quickly compared to real version. Sucks paying department/grocery store prices, but that's only place have gotten genuine batteries.

The coating can be sanded off, although I'd still rather get the ones that don't have them on it to begin with.

I paid $8 for two at brick and mortar because my car key fob died. Such a ripoff. I know these have like a 4 year shelf life, do they actually work ok short dated or is it worth the cash just buying fresh when you need them?

Do NOT feel bad. I only get batteries from Local Store. Target local sells for cheaper than $8, and almost always on sale. The ones you get online are likely to be fake ones and only work for a few months. Just not worth it to buy from Amazon. (Search for "amazon comingle" then you know why there is high risk of fake ones if buying online)
