This 11 inch base iPad stands out as a solid everyday tablet for streaming, light gaming, reading, shopping, and other screen first tasks. The larger display makes product details, documents, FaceTime, and shared viewing easier than on a phone, and the A16 chip is described as plenty fast for general use. It also fits niche jobs like smart home control, wall mounted displays, drone use, and work drawings. The main drawbacks are the lack of Apple Intelligence support, only 6GB of RAM, and a non laminated display, with some concern that newer A18 models may arrive soon at a better value.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. It is a strong fit for streaming, basic web browsing, reading, shopping, and light games, with the larger screen making details easier to see than on a phone. It is less suited to serious work or heavy multitasking, and it only works on Wi‑Fi.
If you want Apple Intelligence or a newer chip, waiting can make sense because an updated base iPad with A18 or A19 is expected soon. If you just need a capable entry iPad now, this A16 model is still considered adequate for most purposes.
No. The A16 model with 6GB of RAM does not support Apple Intelligence, and that RAM limit may also affect future OS feature support. If Apple Intelligence matters, the upcoming base iPad with an A18 or A19 chip is the better wait-and-see option.
For that kind of use, 128GB should be enough. Those tasks are light on storage, and the bigger concern is whether the device will stay current long term; 256GB mainly adds extra headroom if you expect lots of photos, videos, or apps.
Yes. It can work well as a wall-mounted controller for smart devices, music, or security camera feeds, especially when powered continuously and connected through a home setup. Some users run wall-mounted iPads with Ethernet/PoE and separate Apple IDs for HomeKit control.

The ONLY product that apple sells and has value are it's ipads.
Personally, I would argue that this is not worth it due to the large leap in performance with the A18 chip and the very small price difference. TO me it is a no brainer get yourself a A18.

How are you going to avoid that? Any suggestions?
I have 3 that are wall mounted and powered by power over ethernet. I use these to control my smart devices and music collection.
I need some ideas as I'd like to do the same thing.
Thanks.
I have the same "desire." But, I'm concerned with destroying the battery being plugged in all the time.

I bought my current wall mounts on Amazon as they were significantly less expensive than Vidamounnts. Mine are flush mount and I painted them to match my walls.
A Mac mini connected to my multi-zone Denon receiver serves as my jukebox using iTunes. Control is either with the iTunes Remote app or my Denon receiver's app. I usually use iTunes Remote app though.
The wall iPads have their own Apple ID and then I link them to my main Apple ID via family sharing. That way I can control my HomeKit devices with them without having all my other personal info on these iPads.
