Do not buy any jarred food from Amazon as they don't know how to pack glass (unlike Walmart which takes good precautions). I ordered eight jars of Rao sauce recently and Amazon chose to ship it six and two. The six jars never came as the cost was refunded without delivery. Apparently the jars all broke early in the delivery process. As for the other two jars, they should not have been delivered either. A leaking open box with broken glass was delivered in a USPS package container. I was shocked it was left by my door. In any event, I then secured reimbursement.

Agreed. I ordered 8 jars 3 times, 22 out of 24 were destroyed.

Same with me. I originallythought they were backing out of a great deal and claimed it was a "problem"

I've had this same problem (broken jars/dented cans)....but a neighbor told me that they're wrapping each glass jar in bubble wrap. They ordered a few jars and they arrived fine.
So, I decided to try it again myself. I ordered 10 jars of pasta sauce and they all arrived unbroken. I was shocked! Each jar was in an individual bubble wrap bag and sealed.
Did they stop this practice? Amazon is dysfunctional and known to do things ass-backwards, so nothing whatsoever would surprise me. Were they individually wrapped (and still broken)?
I suppose that this could occur if the (reckless) delivery people drop the box?

Another one who will not buy jarred goods from Amazon again.
The 2nd to last delivery came with the seal broken on the jar and it leaked all over.
Last time, this week, was notified the delivery was delayed. Received a refund notification for 1 jar of the 3 ordered. Received the rest of the order 3 days later. Spaghetti sauce had stained everything in the box and seeped into the pasta package. They attempted to clean off all the sauce with g0d knows what and shipped the remaining items in unsellable condition. It was horrible. This is the only time I didn't have an issue with getting a refund on a food item. They know what they did but hoped I wouldn't want to mess with the hassle of trying to get a refund on non refundable items.

Probably depends on the warehouse it's being sent from. It never used to be an issue. Probably started before xmas. The jars are thrown in a box with a little bit of brown packing paper and that's it.
One order, the three bags of chips I ordered acted as padding for the jars of sauce.

Same had 8 jars come cracked or open, Amazon rep reshipping after seeing the pictures of the broken glass and lids off + box soaked. Can't believe they delivered a soaked/wet box.

Now yesterday it was being redelivered and in shipping it got cancelled due to leaking broken items. Amazon gave a credit asap when this happened, didn't even have to contact anyone.

"Your package is returning to Amazon because of the following reasons: Damaged in-transit" woot

raos or prego

Our family tried a blind taste test... They only knew it was 3 different sauces but didn't know what each sauce type or brand.

I cooked Prago meat sauce, Raos Tomato sauce, and Ragu meat sauce.

The winner was 1st Ragu, 2nd Prago and 3nd Raos

We also tried the Rao's Pizzas Cheese and Roni... Didn't like them at all.

It was fun doing and revealing each jar of sauce at the end Wink

This is a good sauce if you haven't tried it.
