I bought the 12v drill, but I haven't opened it yet. Is the impact driver better for 12v line and for basic home stuff?

This is a good deal. Sometimes they have this as the primary item for BOGO deals, but I haven't seen that in a while.

For basic home projects, the impact driver is usually the better tool.A drill is good for making holes and light screw driving. An impact driver is made mainly for driving screws and bolts it has more twisting power and won't stall as easily. If you mainly need to drill holes, keep the drill. If you mostly drive screws, the impact driver will feel stronger and easier to use.

Yes it's excellent for home use. This can even drive lag bolts for mounting TVs in 2x4 studs. Bobviously (yes, you read that right), it's not as strong as 20v or 18v tool but you can do 95% of honey do list tasks with this and the 12v DeWalt drill. I usually grab thos over my 20v impact for furniture assembly and light tasks because I can control the power so much better. I recommend it even though DeWalt isn't putting out new tools for this line. The batteries really last a long time. The 12v ratchet is also really great.

Ugh now im conflicted. i just grabbed the 12v drill deal recently. i had decades old drills so periodically replacing things. the drill seems crazy powerful compared to my old line. is there a point to it if this does a better job with screws and things? i do intend to grab more powerful drill at some point to have for heavier diy stuff that comes up. however my tasks are extremely minor.
