That brings me to my next point. This is over 1/3rd of the tiny 256gb storage on the Switch 2 for 1/3 of a game. That's the other half Nintendo's stupidity, putting a joke amount of storage on the Switch 2 and forcing people to buy overpriced SD Express cards.
FF7 is the outlier. Most Switch/Switch 2 games tend to be smaller than their PC equivalent. For example, Hogwarts Legacy for Switch 2 clocks in at ~25GB while the Steam version is ~75GB. While 256GB seems small, it's not too bad in the context of Switch game sizes. It can fit Mario Kart World, Pokemon Pokopia, BotW, TotK and Animal Crossing, and still have some room leftover.

Considering Nintendo tends to milk their customers, I'm happy enough that they give us the microSD express option. Definitely a lot better compared to what Apple charges for their storage upgrades.

I have a 64GB Steam Deck and that one is practically unusable without either a microSD card or upgrading the internal storage. The latter wasn't really an option in the early days due to the lack of consumer M.2 2230 SSDs so it was either microSD or $130 more for 256GB or $250 more for 512GB.

That ship has sailed. People do not care about the key card thing. These key card games are selling very well. I'm guilty though. I've already bought a couple of games on key cards. Shrug. It's fine.
People definitely care about the game-key card thing. They're only selling because there's no other choice if you want to physically hold something (even if it just a dummy cartridge). People want to play games on their Switch 2, that's the only reason these sell.

I won't buy any game-key cards. I would rather go all-digital than have the worst of both worlds with a game-key card.

I don't think you're forced to buy an SD card. Can't keep a ton of games on there if you don't, but I installed FF7 without issue. I'll have to delete it when I get RE9 I'm guessing, but I have MKW, DKB, and some Switch 1 games on there and got FF7 installed without issue.
Correction: You installed 1/3rd of FF7 without issue. If this installment is 90GB, how big will the other two be? Unless they are significantly smaller, you technically won't be able to install FF7 in it's entirety on the Switch 2 without a additional SD Express card.

FF7 Rebirth clocks in at 102.5GB. That one is actually ~150GB on Steam albeit there seems to be a version specifically for the Steam Deck at ~100GB. It runs like crap on the Deck though. Noticeably worse than FF7 Remake.

Realistically, you don't need all 3 installed simultaneously as you probably won't be playing them at the same time. Once you finish Remake, you can uninstall and move on to Rebirth. Finished Rebirth? Then uninstall and play other games. There was a 4-year gap between Remake (PS4) and Rebirth (PS5) so we probably won't see the next installment on PS5/PS6 until 2028 (even later for other platforms).

And again, FF7 is the outlier. It's the biggest game available for the Switch 2 at the moment. You can fit 4+ "normal" Switch 2 titles on the internal storage.

You care quite a bit about physical vs game-key cards. Most people just want to play games though and won't care overmuch.

Although I do agree with preferring to go full digital over game-key card. I'm a sucker for Final Fantasy limited edition so I'll still get the Day One editions. I'd probably end up re-buying digital when they get discounted for convenience though. I was able to nab a 512GB microSD Express for $55 from ebay so I should be covered.

Most have on the steam deck? What do you mean? Is it a lottery? Do some people buy a Steam Deck and get an oled and others don't? I'm confused. Why would most have oled? Is it not standard? Do you pay more for an oled?Okay, so you're paying a lot more for a steamdeck oled than a Switch 2 AND getting worse performance? Sign me up! /s
The standards that PC players have are different than the standards Nintendo players have.

30 fps is fine for a Nintendo player but 40 fps is unplayable for a PC gamer.

Its like thinking Chick Fil A is better than an average Michelin Starred restaurant just because rich people think the Michelin Star restaurant is mediocre and poor people love Chick Fil A.
