From the Amazon description, "REVERSE TANTO PLAIN EDGE BLADE: Made from high-performance 4Cr14 blade steel". That is pretty cheap steel. 0.4% carbon. If that works for your needs, great! I think you can do better for $22.

I have a bunch of USA and non-USA made Kershaw blades but for some reason this is the one that I always carry. Every single day with very few exceptions.

Does not maintain a razor edge very long, but you can't expect that with this steel.

Tempting to grab a backup.

(Subjective) With regard to the steel, ~0.7% carbon is the minimum I would consider in an EDC, and it is widely available in this price range.

If you never use your knife, ~0.4% is probably fine, but then again so is a cold stick of butter. Wink

What would you recommend in this price range? Preferably with assisted open, but I realize that probably ups the price

I got AR‑RPM9 steel for $20. It was a CJRB.

There's always exceptional deals around the holidays, though they have other designs that are pretty nice that has gone for around $30.
