Way better in my opinion. Had many of both Motorola and Samsungs (Power, Plays, A15 A16 ect) in this price range and the Samsungs run way smoother even though in many cases the specs on paper are better on the Rolas.

Great deal for a backup phone, kept in drawer... There, in event your primary is lost, stolen, broken. At the end of the year, eBay the unlocked A16 for what you paid for it, or a couple dollars more.

BTW... I've read that the A16 gets 6 years of OS updates from Samsung.

I have been using TracFone for over 15 years. I buy these deals just to get the service extended and the minutes and data. I then re-sell the phones at Walmart, machine in entrance, for $10-$20. I activate the phone to my current number and then take the sim out and place it in my Pixel7. It works fine. I recently bought a similar deal on QVC s phones for $40. It is easier to do with an account online. You can save minutes by turning on WiFi to make calls. I do this for my wife's phone also. We pay less than $100 a year for all the phone service we need. The minutes and data, text are added to your number. We have traveled to all 50 states and had good service from Tracfone.

Swapping sims is not recommended since sim doesn't get registered in 2nd phone correctly. Might work for a while but it's been well documented that it can cause issues (especially in branded TF).
With VZ changing things hopefully they will update the system to make it more functional.

It has worked great for 5 years on a Pixel 4 years on a Moto g. Not one failure.

You've been lucky - but it's still not recommended for the average user. Sims need to be registered in the phone they will be used in especially if they are TF branded. TF has more than enough issues with their support & it's best not to push it.

What does this mean?
It means if Tracfone's brand new policy ends up not unlocking the phone at the end of 365 days, just because the phone is no longer active on a line, you would need to buy the cheapest 30-day plan plan to reactivate the line in order to unlock it. No one knows if that will be necessary, since the policy is new and that's 10 months in the future still.

Wondering if the sim that comes with this can be used to activate a different/better phone locked to Verizon MNVOs for a year of service to get it unlocked after 365 days.
you need to purchase a new sim card set, probably in target or dollar general. the contact customer service to "move " your plan to the new sim

You charged your mom for sales taxes, I hope. Being a good son as you are, I am sure you charged her for the sales tax!
Extreme Sd'er. Sold a phone to the one who carried you in the womb for 9 months, gave birth, and took care of you all those years without charge.

lol, there are many professional written and YT reviews on the phone and you are the first with over the top drama. The big name reviewers all give it an excellent rating. Maybe you should contact Samsung engineers and tell them your issues. I had it and it's a nice step up from the Moto G and Power.
You keep saying it is better than the Moto G Power, it absolutely positively not, not even close. I have both, the Moto G Power runs circles around the A16.
