I use these about 2x a year.

Every once in a while it's exactly the tool for the job.

New out of the package, you have to adjust the Torx bolts on each axis to give you the proper amount of tension; you'll see what I mean...

It's almost like this isn't a full-size ratchet and has a slightly different use case.

These seem cool in theory and there are situations where they're useful, but overall in most cases a 1/4" ratchet can do the job with better leverage.

That said, for the price, it's fine for a tool you'll seldomly use

Considering a full size gearwrench 3/8 ratchet is $22 at HD and a cheapy HF one is $12 - again for a full size wrench - $10 doesn't really seem like a deal

If it was $5 I'd say it's a good buy.
The money/cost is in the ratchet, not the handle. And it is a gimble.

If anyone has used these when did it actually work better than a wrench or socket?
I needed to get the cover off a 120-pint dehumidifier, held in place by torx-head machine screws. Four inches from the back wall so no way to get a screwdriver on them. Several of the screws were wedged between fittings so although you could get a regular ratchet on them, the throw was so short that this tool was much easier. Maybe a case very few would run into, but I was glad to have it. My general use case is anytime I'm working blind and there are obstructions that severely limit the throw of anything with a handle. I think the guy who said it was weaker than his fingers is either Alex Honnold or else he got a defective one.

Use case is limited to times when you can access a nut/bolt but do not have the space to turn or place a wrench. You won't be able to torque as greatly as you would with a handled wrench but for those bolts behind covers or buried in a channel or obscured/obstructed by other stuff you cannot remove / be bothered to remove.

If you can get your hand on to the bolt/nut, this will likely work. Even if not "necessary" this thing can save you time by allowing you to remove bolts without first removing all the obstacles in the way. Only drawback is the limited torque you can apply - your forearm/hand strength is the limit.

Of course it's different - I never said otherwise. It's also smaller and cheaper to make which was my point - a deal for this would be $5.

I have a couple of craftsman finger ratchets but they are not a gimbal and they are 1/4" drive. I purchased this one for the gimbal and also most 1/4" sockets don't go past 1/2".

It's also a niche product, so it doesn't benefit from as may economies of scale. It may not really be much cheaper to make.

The gimbal makes it worse. You lose even more torque.

How much does the gimble matter in use vs something like the $6 set from Harbor Freight? https://www.harborfreight.com/thu...59773.html

Wish it was the 1/4"
I'm seeing $17.99 right now for the "1/4 S&K also makes them and theirs are $20 each for either size.

This deal is possibly dead? I'm seeing $13.99 for it at the moment.

Handy to keep in your car's glovebox, along with the properly sized socket, just to change tires.
Provided you are Superman, of course.
