Please read up on how many The Nines and The Sevens owners have had to replace the internal amp/crossover/computer .

The amp/computer board was $375, then $500 from Klipsch, but now that they are no longer in stock, the price is $700-900 from any dealer that still has them.

If the price falls any lower, people will be buying them just to harvest the boards.

This is a great deal for these speakers. Yes, you can find some good speakers for half the cost, but for these specifically this is a great deal
Side note though, the app kind of sucks. And for whatever reason my speakers will be on occasionally when I go into the basement, despite turning them off days prior.

Not close, actually BETTER. Your ignorance about ELAC and Ascend is laughable, as is your elitist comment about a $99 sub---doh, it's a $99 sub but even a $99 sub delivers better bass than a bookshelf speaker without a sub. Anybody who's actually compared both would know that.
Uh hu. Audio is magic, right? Got any microintonations with your ewaste?

The Nines will soon be nice decoration pieces to look at based on how many people had the amp die on them. They're great while they work, but eventually the amp will give out and there's really nothing you can do do about it.

Elacs aren't junk and your ignorance is showing here

My nines are a couple years old and fine. Some die, but that happens with everything. Klipsch sells a ton of speakers, so anecdotal reports on the internet are misleading. Even so, better to get something good that dies than garbage that works.
Elac makes some great speakers and some garbage speakers. Few audio brands are consistent in performance between models, and this goes 10x over for speakers. Who can be relied upon 100%? Probably nobody. At best, Revel and Neumann for speakers, but neither make subs that are worth the money.

ah, so your whole silly tirade is driven by pride of ownership, i.e. "Buy what I bought!" brand cheerleading, the petty narcissism that plagues almost every online audio forum.

Got it, carry on... 🙄

I'm still waiting for magical "wireless" amplified speakers that have actual surround sound, center, and subwoofer... until then my ancient amplifier and old ass Polk system aren't going anywhere I guess

The Klipsch Nines look pretty cool if all you care about is 2 channel audio... from your phone I guess? otherwise how is it "wireless" other than left to right speakers without wires? Use this with your TV by hdmi/earc or other input and there will be "wires". Nevermind power cords, but I guess "cords" are not "wires"?

All that being said, I like Klipsch and I love my Promedia PC speakers to death.

These are several orders better than Promedia. Yes, there are made for a 2.0 or 2.1 setup. I have played with 5.1, and honestly, I am just as happy with 2.1, because I don't always sit still.

Yah, I agree with you.
Especially with your point about the sales volume of Klipsch. I don't think people realize how many sets they sell. It is a crazy high number. So much more than most speaker companies such as tiny little Ascend or even a larger hifi co like ELAC. They also sell to a lot of people who are not exactly hifi hobbyists, that can be tough.

Also what is interesting is for $650 many on SD seemingly think this is not a great deal when at full retail at launch for $1500 most folks in the hifi camps from fully subjective to hardcore EAC & ASR folks perceived this as a very nicely priced set in it's particular category for full price.

There are no active/powered 2.0s close to the price of these @$650 available with real wood veneer and consumer friendly features. Someone could grab a set of Kali 8" Lp-8 Studio monitors but those are not better in independently measured frequency response, do not play as loudly at the extreme, do not fit in most living spaces as well visually and are harder to connect to consumer equipment and phones.

Yep.. I returned my Sevens because besides of some unacceptable issues (hiss @ idle & high idle power consumption), but that also made me realise I'd rather just stick with a separate mini-amp & passives because I didn't want some expensive paper weights if the integrated amp shit the bed just out of warranty.

Using their RP-600M II's powered by a SMSL SA 300 now.

I just can't with the irony lol

No, passive speakers don't break like ones with a built in amp because they don't have a…? You guessed it, a built in amp. A component that's compromised to fit into the speaker at this price point. So yes you can rely on passive speakers for decades, that's why you have perfectly working speakers from the 80s from any brand. Even new Klipsch budget R passive speakers work fine for years.

I don't understand. If I have a pair of these stop working and I now get a new pair, I would throw the old pair away. Why spending time on replacing the amp?

Good speakers. They are kind of bright. Put a filter -4dB Q 0.9 at 16000 Hz.
Aren't these actively modeled? There's an app for EQ right?

My first pair had an amp that died. But, I realized that it's because I was using USB connection and it never shuts off because my PC had USB active all the time.
With the replacement AMP, I made sure I changed the connect type to OPT before shutting my PC and the auto off function works as is and it's working fine for over a year.
