The driver is not magnetic, so the bits will fall out. (The driver has a wire clip that holds the bits in, but reviews show that the wire clip fails after brief usage.)

I know it would add to the cost, but does anyone know if there is a better kit that includes a magnetic driver or if a different one could be swapped in and still fit in the case?

I bought a 1/4" magnetic hex driver to go with this kit. Problem solved!

May be convenient for some, but I have a box of screwdrivers and far prefer just grabbing the one I need w/o; choosing a bit that will loosen or fall out.

That's a pretty good idea ...but I don't suppose you found a replacement that fits perfectly in the case's driver slot?

I had this set for years and use it very frequently. I have never had a bit fall off. Not sure if it's just friction or what holds it in but it never fails me
