The Dexley is a wide all mesh ergonomic chair that stands out for comfort, especially for taller or larger frames, with better armrests and lumbar support than the Hyken. Long term reports are strong on durability, with chairs still going after several years and Staples warranty support replacing broken parts quickly and for free. The main caveats are a short headrest for people over 6 feet, possible squeaks or armrest cracking over time, and some mesh or seat wear after years of use. It is a solid value at this sale price if the fit works for you.

Common Questions (4)

  • It can hold up for 5+ years with the mesh still in decent shape, and some owners report it still going strong after several years. Common wear points are the armrests, seat mesh, and reclining lock mechanism, which can loosen or crack over time.

  • Yes. A new Staples account can trigger an extra 15% off or a $15 off coupon, and some shoppers had to use a new email or even a different browser to make the pop-up appear. The code appears to be one-time use.

  • Yes. The chair reportedly has a 7-year warranty, and Staples support can send replacement parts such as a seat or other broken components after a short call. Keeping the white warranty tag on the seat cushion and having the order number helps.

  • The Dexley is the larger version and is better suited to taller or larger users, roughly 5'10" and above. The Hyken is the smaller option and tends to fit average or shorter people better.

All mesh is comfortable, but if you tend to feel cold in the office A/C or wherever, it's going to make that worse.

I got a pop-up for 15 off 60 for signing up (new account). I couldn't replicate it though, so I'm not sure exactly what triggered it. It has literally been years since I've browsed Staples website.

Does this chair get loud or start to creak and squeak after a few years? Maybe that's expecting too much at this price.

My budget for a chair was $500 but the refurb Steelcase and Herman Millers were too scammy and Madison was too sketchy for my taste, so I popped into Staples to see what they had. 99% overpriced crap (and the Hyken series which I've had before and did not like). Grabbed one of these because it fixes all the issues I had with the Hyken; headrest, front edge reinforcement, lumbar, etc.
The Dexley is great for the price. I've been enjoying it. If I see another fancy chair on FB marketplace I might swap, but currently it's doing the job well.

Just purchased 2 of these chairs. One for home. One for office use. I pad 150$ each. Not mad, totally worth it.

This has been a popular chair since it was first released around ~2020. It's the slightly larger version of the Hyken which Staples also offers, Hyken is more ideal for more average sized/shorter people while the Dexley is better for taller/larger people (say 5'10 or above). It's worth just going to a Staples and testing out both, they're always on display and usually go on sale around the same time.

For this price point they're pretty hard to beat but they're obviously not the best of the best. I've had my Hyken for about 4-5 years and have found it great comfort wise. It did start to sag a bit after a year so I did one of the common mods for these and bought a square piece of furniture foam from Walmart for $10 and jammed it under the mesh which instantly solved the issue and still holds up to this day. The arm rests also started to split on the sides but its more of a visual eyesore than a comfort issue. I'd say I'm more than satisfied by it as a casual desk chair but if I had to WFH more often I'd probably spring for something nicer like a Herman Miller.

Same purchased mine right before COVID and it has been solid. I am now trying to find a way of replacing the armrests but there's nothing I can find to match the bolt length pattern of what mine has. Has held up far better than those large fake leather kind of chairs that slowly but surely deteriorate. This is not a bad price but just need armrests not a whole new chair. Ugh.

i don't follow this - your ass is sitting on the foam itself, or on the mesh of the chair?

Great chair for the price. Not worth it "normal" prices, but for sub 150 it's great. I'm sitting in one now, and I've had it 5 plus years at this point.
