The Dexley is a wide all mesh ergonomic chair that stands out for comfort, especially for taller or larger frames, with better armrests and lumbar support than the Hyken. Long term reports are strong on durability, with chairs still going after several years and Staples warranty support replacing broken parts quickly and for free. The main caveats are a short headrest for people over 6 feet, possible squeaks or armrest cracking over time, and some mesh or seat wear after years of use. It is a solid value at this sale price if the fit works for you.

Common Questions (4)

  • It can hold up for 5+ years with the mesh still in decent shape, and some owners report it still going strong after several years. Common wear points are the armrests, seat mesh, and reclining lock mechanism, which can loosen or crack over time.

  • Yes. A new Staples account can trigger an extra 15% off or a $15 off coupon, and some shoppers had to use a new email or even a different browser to make the pop-up appear. The code appears to be one-time use.

  • Yes. The chair reportedly has a 7-year warranty, and Staples support can send replacement parts such as a seat or other broken components after a short call. Keeping the white warranty tag on the seat cushion and having the order number helps.

  • The Dexley is the larger version and is better suited to taller or larger users, roughly 5'10" and above. The Hyken is the smaller option and tends to fit average or shorter people better.

I love this chair. I have been sitting in it every day for 5 years and it still looks great. No squeeks, no problems. I took off the headrest and arms, I don't need them...and I'd like to think it helps build my core without them (yeah I know that is stupid). Also, the headrest looked stange on video calls.
Do yourself a favor and purchase some rollerblade style wheels on amazon. Glides smoothly across wood floors. I purchsed another for my wife during a recent sale.

Didn't want to give me the sale price with my current account. Created a new one and got the discounted price. Got a $15 off coupon to boot and out the door for $115!

i don't follow this - your ass is sitting on the foam itself, or on the mesh of the chair?
There's a big empty area under the mesh, you just jam the foam right underneath the mesh.

Same purchased mine right before COVID and it has been solid. I am now trying to find a way of replacing the armrests but there's nothing I can find to match the bolt length pattern of what mine has. Has held up far better than those large fake leather kind of chairs that slowly but surely deteriorate. This is not a bad price but just need armrests not a whole new chair. Ugh.
You might still be under warranty. I think it was 7 years around Covid. (Can't believe it's been that long.)

I just called Staples product support (800-425-0049) and got a replacement seat for a Hyken model I bought online 3 years ago. I told them the mesh was coming apart and provided order number. They needed to confirm that I used it less than 10 hours/day and weighed less than 275 lbs. Less than 10 minute call and free shipping. Pretty painless.

I have the hyken chair and the foam is broken. Bought July 2019, and I am still within the 7 year warranty. Is it worth claiming?

Thanks OP! Went in for one. Remodeling the office to handle more desk space and in need of a good chair. I appreciate everyone's reviews on your experience with it. That's what sealed the deal.

i would highly suggest wrapping some black duct tape at the bottom end of the pneumatic piston that meets the chair base with the wheels. The base is plastic so the piston hole will expand from usage. Mine worn down to the point the bottom of the piston is touching the floor.

I tried with a new email and it worked for me
I had to use a new email as well; my longstanding prior account didn't include the discount

Slightly Shorter side. At 6'2" the headrest is too low by a couple inches
If you're over 6' head rests are neck rests. That's just how the world turns.

I would call. Didn't take long to get a real person and they were very nice. Hopefully you still have your order number.

I did call! They are shipping me a replacement seat (which is the only one broken) and that's more than enough. Call was only under 10 minutes and they were helpful! Staples said warranty was only 5 years but when I was forwarded to their parts/claim support, they said it was indeed 7 years

Nice! Like I tell my kids, "can't have what you don't ask for!" 🙃

Picked this up and been using it since yesterday morning. I wasn't expecting much but its a pretty good chair after some adjustments. I can imagine using this for years without issue as long as no creaking develops. For the price this is great. You aint getting any better than this until you get into the $400-500 refurbished leap pricing.
