Carl Pei built OnePlus. The only real question is if Nothing is actually liberated from CCP, or just going to fall into the same doom loop OnePlus did once CCP got their hands into it.

However, I was never able to use it. They never had phones that I wanted in stock. I tried throughout the year. I did not want a CMF phone. I'd get emails telling me that the newer Nothing phone was in stock. These would be sent in the middle of the night US time. By the time I saw them, there was no inventory and no ability to back order.
A year went by, credit expired, and I lost all faith in Nothing. They don't deliver and they can't be counted on. My Phone 1 began to bulge a little over a year after owning. Fortunately, I found a local repair shop in who replaced the battery perfectly for $90. The repair tech kept asking me "Why did you buy this phone?" He was right in a sense, but I wanted a dual-SIM phone and the Nothing brand seemed like a good choice. The glyph lights in this phone are cut gimmick that I disabled almost immediately as they could not convey any useful information.
Bottom line, if you want this phone, an Amazon credit is far more trustworthy than a credit from Nothing. They really do live up to their name when it comes to expectations. If you expect Nothing, you will not be disappointed.
I can't speak for Nothing Phone 4, but the Phone 1 only works in the US on T-Mobile. I carried it along with a Pixel 6a. Interestingly enough, in some spotty areas, one would work better than the other.
OnePlus meanwhile got gobbled up by Oppo and now is first rate CCP... Stuff.
