Avoid getting the select line of fire tv devices- their vega based OS is terrible around compatibility since most apps are web wrappers and without android you'll not be able to side load anything interesting. Even if you only care about streaming, this is so much worse than something like Onn TV box. Unless you already have a fire tv stick that has OS updates disabled and custom home screen like Projectivy Launcher installed, Amazon's entire platform is a mess with the ads.

Thank you for the heads-up. I'm also assuming because it's so much newer, they haven't exactly figured out how to hack it yet for Android compatibility.

Android is likely never going to be available for the device because it would require a bootloader unlock (which is unlikely unless there is a massive vulnerability found in the future for the platform to allow the unlocking) as well as system drivers (which are not easily available since the device is not built for Android from the developers).
I suspect that Android will run terribly on it even if a way to install it is found because the hardware is much worse to keep costs down. Vega is stripped down to only allow basic installs for this reason.
