It's Reese's Cups. What exactly were you expecting? Frankly, I'm surprised it's only 52% sugar and not more.

FYI - Hershey ruins everything (I would put these in the "specialty" category, since there are different flavors, and the white now fake chocolate is included in this package):

Hershey has faced allegations of changing recipes to reduce costs by replacing real milk chocolate with compound coatings (using vegetable oils like palm/shea) and using "peanut butter crème" instead of traditional peanut butter in some items. While the classic Reese's Peanut Butter Cup remains unchanged, many secondary bars (Take5, Fast Break) and white items have shifted to these alternative coatings, resulting in a less rich flavor and altered texture.

Key Changes and Allegations (as of 2026):
Reese's Products: The grandson of the inventor alleges that many Reese's items are now "peanut butter style crème" or use compound coating rather than real milk chocolate.
White Reese's: These are no longer made with white chocolate but instead, a "white crème," say reports from KBTX News 3 and Food & Wine.
Secondary Bars: Products like Take5 and Fast Break no longer use traditional milk chocolate, replacing it with vegetable oil-based coatings, according to Associated Press News and Food & Wine.
Labeling Changes: Some products now carry labels like "chocolatey" or "chocolate candy" instead of "milk chocolate," indicating the substitution of cocoa butter with cheaper alternatives, as noted in Facebook posts.
Hershey's Response: The company states that the classic, standard-sized Reese's Peanut Butter Cup recipe is unchanged, but that they make adjustments to new shapes, sizes, and seasonal items, as stated in ABC27 and 29News.

These changes are largely driven by rising cocoa prices and the need for greater efficiency in production, resulting in modified recipes for many items, as noted in Associated Press News
