Proprietary firmware based on openwrt, which means they HAVE TO RELEASE any modifications. So, not proprietary or they are breaking the license. Either way, nope!

Can these models not be flashed?

I have the XE3000 (I believe the only difference is the battery), and it's been great. I get a solid connection and much faster speeds than any other cellular devices I've had.

Second that. Solid super stable and fast. Using one with waveform external antenna und this device makes all the difference in rural LTE setting overseas. Can't wait to see what 5G can do this summer. The software has an easy UI and pretty much all settings needed are there. One could flash standard OpenWRT but i prefer the ease of use of the GLI version. Updated fairly frequently and it's an easy button to auto update or revert back to an earlier version.

I do have an Inseego Mifi Pro here for backup and $330 is still a lot of cash for sitting around but if this was ever hitting $250 I might grab one. But comcast is pretty stable.

For anyone relying on cell connection Internet, this is the best or one of the best and the netgear unlocked is insanely expensive and they have so many confusing models with different bands settings you have to be super careful to get the right one, and again they are $$$.

I purchased this a few months ago directly and have been very happy with the performance.

I get over 300mbs on 5G while its sitting in my bedroom (suburbs) .... its a sick unit for road trips. They just released a hotspot brick with 5G, so its basically the Spitz AX in a portable brick form with battery and internal antennas + Wifi 7. Its called the Mudi 7, and I pre-ordered it.

I'm only using the stock antennas, yet I'm still impressed. Still on their firmware, too, and I agree. The user interface is great.

I was actually looking at the Netgear routers initially and had a hard time trying to justify the cost over this one and it's features. I'm glad I went this route.

I'm usually within range of a 5G network and it feels like I'm on my home network most of the time.

Which antenna are you using?

Oh my goodness! Mine just showed. Easy setup. UI is as expected since I had the Opal (wifi only).

I'm also in the suburbs of my city. I've had verizon and tmobile. Here are my non-scientific speedtests using both fast.com and speedtest.net over the past 10 months:

download/upload
Verizon
26/20
53/15
34/17

tmobile with their black rectangle
130/13
120/20
145/16

tmobile with gl.inet (today)
450/11
433/15
424/11

Wow!!!!

Just checked out the Mudi 7, it looks pretty slick. It even has an external antenna port, I didn't expect that.

For tmobile, set these 2 settings for the SIM in the web UI and you can use a voice sim (normal data vs hotspot data), a neat trick for those deals when TMO will give you a free voice sim =)
  • Access Point Name (APN): fast.t-mobile.com
  • TTL: 64

We got the Waveform Mini. https://www.waveform.com/products/quadmini
I tested all at home here in U.S. but we took the Mini overseas "just in case" and were glad we did. It turned barely useable into workable the first year and last summer speeds improved and it was great. This year 5G may be available, so we'll see.

Nice, thank you.

I'll likely try it out one of these days.

I will have to check out that Mudi 7. Could be a great replacement for the Mifi X Pro. Inseego has a new one announced as well. Inseego Mifi Pro M4: https://inseego.com/products/mobi...fi-pro-m4/ but I have not seen it anywhere yet and usually you only find their stuff through carriers or work or the bay. But the Mifi X Pro M3000B is a great all-around device, but no match for the GLI or course. But portable.

I have the Mudi 2, only LTE and super old HW, so excited for the Mudi 7 to arrive in April. Nothing beats the software features of GLinet with VPN on the portable router itself. The Mudi 7 has a touch screen to activiate things like VPN, etc without needed to go in the web UI. The Mudi 7 is a full fledged router that happens to have 5G so can do all the fancy travel router things like captive portal + repeater etc in compact bag form.
