So not doubting this to be true, but I had inherited a 2/3 year old Hisense unit from my home's previous owners. Was in great shape. I'm obsessed with moldy ACs and always clean them really well. I did my usual trick of degreaser to clean and bleach water to sanitize. Not only did the bleach start to corrode some of the fins but I think I got degreaser in the motor bearings and the fan ran like s***. Had to throw it away. On my new units I used this spray. Not only is it easy to use, it's lemony fresh and did a much better job at cleaning. It also kills organisms without using bleach which is very harmful to the cheap thin metal that all AC units use for the fins.

It isn't so much being "reputable" but use case. Most of the corrosive coil cleaners are contractor grade, meant to be used exclusively on certain types of condensing units / condensing coils / cooling towers (never on evaporator coils), require dilution, and heavy rising. They can be very hazardous in the hands of those who claim to 'know enough to be dangerous' (and generally are...but not in a good way).

This on the other hand is more of a foaming detergent / deodorizer vs a rather caustic 'cleaner' you likely find at an HVAC wholesaler.

I use this with a plastic tube attached to reach vehicle heater cores. Clean the living F out of them. Heater cores get loaded with hard to remove accumilated substances. Makes a huge difference.

I used this in 2024 and our AC hadn't ever gotten cleaned in 20 years and it wasn't that dirty. So I'll pause this time. I guess depends where your AC is and how dirty it gets so fast

Yeah, it's not filthy, but they need the cleaning and performance is boosted afterwards. We run those two beasts nonstop through the summer, so I want to try and keep them clean to avoid any overworking. One location is across from a gravel pit so get a lot of dust in the air, as well. If it was clean-ish, I absolutely would not be climbing up there any more than necessary. Smilie
