Motherboard details:
Quick Overview: https://storage-asset.msi.com/dat...WIFI6E.pdf
Manual: https://download-2.msi.com/archiv...nglish.pdf

Things to note:
The motherboard is MicroATX form factor.
It supports up to 3 m.2 drives (1 slot is on the rear of the motherboard), normally boards only support 2, and 3 is normally only on full size ATX boards.
It has a bios flash button, which allows flashing without booting.
It has onboard Wifi and has 5 fan headers. These are a lot of features that are often cut for smaller boards. Having the bios flash button is a huge boon as many motherboards didn't support newer cpus which got you in a situation of requiring a older cpu to flash the bios to support an newer cpu. Not a issue here.

I'm extremely tempted, but concerned about the impact of a single RAM stick.
And to add another stick of the exact kind, it looks like I'd be adding $240 which would put it not far off from the 7700X bundle .

Still one of the only bundles worth it for gaming. The board is very cost down, so please do due diligence, and test it thoroughly. These are open box like crazy at our MC. If your MC does added RAM, don't bother unless there's an option for another 16 GB for $100 (normally $50). It's not worth it otherwise, especially on a gaming SKU X3D like this. The board with the 7600X3D bundle is much better, but it's honestly also not worth the extra $100 or even $50, if they price those to sell shortly.

Idk I thought the board had way more features than most bundled boards, especially for a MicroATX. The fact it has a bios flash button, 3 m.2 slots, 5 fan headers, and wifi, is a lot on a MicroATX board. It's clearly a few levels above the cheapest boards, as they wouldn't include wifi, the bios flash button, and normally only have 1 (or 2 m.2 slots) and 2~3 fan headers.

Oh good call. I'll ask tomorrow when I pick it up. I need to do a price match on a case for these components anyway. Hopefully Microcenter will match woot.com.
They don't. Only Amazon.

This CPU is targeted at users who would pair it with a dedicated GPU. However, it should also be pointed out that this CPU includes an integrated iGPU. That would make this bundle even more valuable as it doesn't immediately require a GPU to get up and running. For $300 you have an essentially complete and modern (i.e. AM5)platform to modernize an older system.

The biggest thing this combo misses is a cooling solution for the CPU, but fortunately there are plenty of great options you could find searching through Slickdeals.

Good luck!

I wasn't even planning an upgrade until am6, but between tariffs, ai datacenters, and now the war, prices on all of this stuff is going to be even higher by the time am6 comes out. This deal hitting along with the ps5 price hike (I already have a ps5 pro, so I'm good there) was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me.
I never upgrade if the next gen gaming system is about to come out, that means desktop GPUs are about to be updated in a year, which will drop the prices on alot of hardware bundles, This is a great deal for people that want to spend less than 400 to upgrade their AM4 and older setups.

And hey, if you're coming from AM4, your cooler will work on AM5 too.

Those are all standard for MSI on B850. I'm a system builder, the VC line is the lowest for MSI. Occasionally you will still see a cheaper A620M or B650M pop up, but not at MC. This specific model is a $100 offering solo. This combo works out to $100 for the memory module, $120 for the CPU, and $80 for the motherboard. I recommend testing the build well, as they get a lot of this board back. It's still the best deal currently by a long shot.

Most micro center bundles have an option to upgrade the board for 20 or 30 bucks on top of the usual price

Not this one, at least not at our MC. Not that it matters, as long as the buyer tests well. The next up the stack for MSI is the S line, and it's not much different. The cost downs on the VC are the lack of top VRM heatsink, no integrated backplate, no M.2 heatsink, USB limited to 10 Gbps, and one less 8 pin CPU power. I think that's about it, don't try to run a CPU over 65 watts on it, and it's fine. I probably wouldn't do a 5.0 NVMe on it, unless the drive includes its own heatsink.

Check out microcenters video on youtube about DDR5 single channel vs dual channel RAM using x3d chips that came out yesterday

Yeah the 7500x3d/bundle is listed as a Microcenter exclusive so I don't think you'll find it anywhere else. It's also a CPU that was exclusive to 2 prebuilts that Microcenter sells, so they likely get/got additional supply of the same mobo/cpu that they are selling as stand alone as part of the bundles. (Which is why the cpu comes preinstalled in the mobo)

Technically, they're preinstalled because MC gets them tray, not boxed. This CPU bin is only for MC, so that's fine. The VC line board is available retail elsewhere, but you'll not find them, as they'd have to sell them sub-$100, which sells poorly for DIY.
